Well, I am officially through my first week of marathon training for 2017! I am pacing the Garmin Marathon in April 🙂 Yeah, this was my first marathon (ever) last year and I have learned a lot! I am excited to be able to pace this race! Here we go!
Weekly Workouts
Monday- Since I had the day off work and little man was at daycare, I decided to go for a long run! I found a lot of other things to do during the morning and early afternoon…and the hubs kept asking, “Soooo…are you going to go run?” Finally…I went!
Tuesday- Since the weather is cold in the morning, I pushed my run to lunchtime. Yeah…it didn’t really get warm so my run was still quite cold.
Wednesday- Since I didn’t care to be in the cold, I decided to head to the gym.
Thursday- Even though it is a “rest day”, I headed to the gym to walk my miles for the day! A routine is what I need right now…and a day off is not in the cards…
Friday- Yeah…another gym day!
Saturday- Well, the gym doesn’t open until later in the morning…bums! So, I headed out with the crew! My feet didn’t last more than one lap… Oh well – you win some, you lose some. Take what you can get! My Knuckle Lights sure lit the way! I am testing these running lights as a ambassador for BibRave. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews! 🙂 Check them out!
Sunday- While my day didn’t start with a mile (or few), it finished up with one while the hubs was making dinner 🙂

Next Week’s Projected Workouts
I plan on hitting the gym most mornings this week…or at least the ones that are less than 30 degrees… We will have a warmer week and might have some easy 2-a-days to take advantage of the afternoon warmth while keeping my early morning routine.
Make it a good one!!

I like running outside so much more that a treadmill but I’d rather do that resort to that when it is super cold out. Especially when it is snowing and it ends up freezing like it did this weekend.

I am certainly not a “fair weather runner”…but this bitter cold is a bit much! I wish the gym opened sooner on Saturday’s so my long runs could be more comfortable!

Looks like your are off to a good start with your 2017 training! I’ve been running in the cold weather too lately. I don’t mind the cold when I’m dressed appropriately!

Yeah, the cold isn’t too bad after the first mile or two (as long as I have enough layers…).

What a great first week of training! I have a half marathon coming up in May, my second one and the same one I did last year. I need to get serious about my training very soon.

Well, it is great that you know the course and know what to expect this year! Here’s to a new PR 🙂

Yes, that will definitely be an upside! I think the one I do sometimes changes the course, but I do like knowing more of what to expect and how hard I need to train to beat that PR!

You had a great start to the year with your workouts! I miss long runs…I look forward to running 7 this weekend, it’s been over a month since I’ve gone that far, so great job with your 15!

I hope that you are able to get some more miles soon! I would really hate not being able to run… Here’s to a great 2017!

Coming to you via the Weekly Wrap!:) I can imagine that it is cold there to run! I lived in Olathe from 2001-2005. I didn’t race then, only occasionally ran! I remember going to the gym a lot back then because it was so cold! Very, very cool that you are pacing the Garmin Marathon!

Welcome! My family and my hubs family all live in Olathe, and my parents live down the street from the Garmin headquarters 🙂 The gym still isn’t that full in the morning…the cold seems to keep people inside and even away from the warm confines of the treadmill 🙂

Normally I’m happy to run outside as long as the “feels like” is above zero, but this year, I’m resorting to my treadmill more and more…
Good job getting in the miles!

I would totally be running on a treadmill at home if I had one! The gym is a great option this time of the year. I would love to run inside if the temps are anything below 20…but my long runs have been QUITE cold lately!

How very cool your pacing a marathon. I would think it would take real discipline to be able to do this. how many time do you look at your watch lol.?

I look at my watch a ton! Pacing is as much mental as it is physical…keeping my runners going is a big thing and i find myself checking my watch several times a mile…much more in the first few miles so (A) I don’t start them too fast and (B) I keep the increasing speeds per mile. Other than that, it is ALWAYS a great experience! I just hope that the full marathon will be as great as the half marathons I pace 🙂

Great job on getting in all of those miles!! I agree with you and the cold, sometimes I’m in a mood to suck it up, layer up and do it, and other days I prefer the comfort of a dreadmill. Thanks for linking up with Lucie and I, we hope to see you again this week!
