Hospital Hill w2 | Weekly Workouts

This week is another week of trial and error. My goals are to keep my pace low so my HR also stays low. I have a pacing event this weekend that would usually be an easy, easy pace for me – but I am nervous that due to my low mileage the past couple weeks, I am not sure how the weekend event will go.

Weekly Workouts

Monday- A little cold won’t stop me today! Even though the cold scared my running buddy inside for the morning, I tackled the sidewalk solo 🙂 The cold surely helped me keep that HR low while pushing the pace a little more.

Cool, easy run – 4 miles – 141 avg. HR

Tuesday- Another day, another run 🙂 I haven’t been more glad to be able to get out of bed in the morning and go for a run than I have this week!

I am sporting my new Adidas Ultra Boost X and new BUFF® USA arm sleeves!! I love trying new gear – especially when it works out GREAT! I am diggin’ the new kicks and the arm sleeves are awesome – keeping me warm in the cold, and cool in the heat!

Nice, easy run – 3 miles – 140 avg. HR

Wednesday- I believe summer is just around the corner…the heat and humidity is starting to make HR training a little more interesting…

Warm, easy run – 4.5 miles – 144 avg. HR

Thursday- Early morning easy miles – wonderful!

Cool, easy run – 6 miles – 128 avg. HR

Friday- Morning yoga at the gym – check!! Now…to find the time for an afternoon run…

Afternoon run…check!! We got lucky today and the boss told us to head out early. What do I do?? Hit the trails, of course!! Other than a down tree and scurrying things in the tall grass, I was soaking up the amazing afternoon vibes 🙂

Healing trail run – 2.5 miles – 131 avg. HR

Saturday- A little bit longer “shake out” run than I generally do before a running or pacing event…but the “cool” morning temps beckoned me to stay out 🙂 An easy six to start the day!

Cool morning run – 6 miles – 139 avg. HR

Sunday- While quite a bit warmer than I expected, the Lincoln National Guard Half Marathon went well! The runners that I spoke to about running with me stuck with me until I kicked them out – and I met them all back up at the finish area 🙂 A successful pacing day to say the least!

I am also glad to have had this race under my belt this week! I have been gradually adding my miles back up and I knew this race was going to be a small test to see how my training would be affected by my time away (mostly my harder workouts going rogue…). I am slowly getting more comfortable pushing my pace back to normal levels and I felt great before, during and after the race was over! Lincoln for the win!

Warm, productive run – 13.1 miles – 146 avg. HR

Weekly Miles : 39 miles

857 / 2,016 miles in 2016

Next Week’s Projected Workouts

I am slowly growing in my confidence that the medicine that I am taking is helping with whatever symptoms I was having a couple weeks ago. It really does feel like forever ago…and that makes it hard for me to want to push myself too much this early in the process…

These in-between weeks are my mini training cycle for Hospital Hill Half in KC, MO on June 3rd. My original goal for the rest of this spring training, the in-between time before my 50M training, was to work on some speed and look for a possible PR at Hospital Hill in a month…but I am not sure that is going to be in the cards for me this year.

My new goal is to enjoy the volunteering experience on Friday at the 5K and kick some hills Saturday morning in the half marathon 🙂 I’ll be sporting some BibRave orange on the course, so come on out and cheer on the runners!!

If you would enjoy coming out and playing on the hills of KC as well, use the code “BIBRAVE” at checkout for 10% off your registration (not valid on the family 5K pricing). I urge you to register today and save a little cash!! Use that savings at the Health and Fitness Expo 🙂 I know I will be, ha!
