Weekly Workout

hawk fifty mile training | w15

Last BIG week of this training cycle!! While it didn’t go totally as scheduled or planned, I made the most of it! Only two more weekends before the big race…one of which will be on vacation…oh boy!

Weekly Workouts

Monday- OFF

Tuesday- 4 miles + 1 mile with Pai

I needed the early morning text from Angie asking if I was running…yep! We met up for 4 miles to start the day!

After our run, I came home and picked up the sleeping pup for a mile around the block! With the high, high humidity and warm air, I couldn’t keep her out much longer than that… She enjoyed hopping in the pool when we got home : )

Have you checked out my review of the BUFF® Pack Run Cap from last Friday? This lightweight little cap is the perfect addition to everyone’s running gear! You will certainly be seeing me wear it often : )

Wednesday- 12 miles 4 miles

Late riser. Incoming weather. All excuses.

I should have got out of bed with my first alarm…heck, I was already dressed to run since I have had a hard time getting the motivation to get out early lately! Oh well, I ran 4 good miles from tomorrow’s run and plan to make up the other 4 on Friday…

Thursday- 8 miles 12 miles

With yesterday’s failed attempt at my mid-week long run, I set out to get it done today! While I didn’t get out QUITE as early as I wanted, I was able to get in 5+ miles before meeting up with my pal Angie for anther 5 – and then finished up my last 2 closer to home. I am loving my new Oiselle Roga shirt with shorts – mostly because of the color : )

The Oiselle link is a “Give $20, Get $20” promotion – as a new customer, you can get $20 off your order. In exchange, for my referring you to their amazing brand, Oiselle will treat me to $20 off my next purchase : ) Shop away my friends!! (I could totally use another skirt…or seven!!)

What?! There is that BUFF® Pack Run Cap again! : )

Friday- OFF

Yeah, I didn’t get out this morning…and I am not too worried about it. OFF days aren’t a bad idea these days : )

Saturday- 10 miles

After much back and forth with myself and my hubs, I decided to run my 10 miler this morning – rather than attempt my longer 26 mile training run. I met up with Tara at the Konza trails and I joined her for 10 miles : ) I am not sure how many more she ran…but she helped me keep moving at a decent clip!

Sunday- 26 miles

After a morning lightening storm and lack of extra alarms, I was able to get out for my last long-long run of this training cycle!

I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go, but I knew that I had plenty of miles to roam around… I headed up to the lake, over the lake, to a friends house for ice, back to the lake, to a gas station for fuel and more ice, then around the campgrounds at the lake, to the Camp Shop for more ice…around more campgrounds, and then back home!

Phew…it was a hot one, but good thing I kept ice around for quite a bit of the miles!

Weekly Miles : 56.5 miles + 2.6 walking miles

1577 / 2,016 miles in 2016

  1. Man, just 6 miles on a hot & humid day today nearly did me in.

Poor Bandit isn’t getting many runs lately. Either I’m not running at home — and he only does a mile or so in the summer, so I can’t bring him & leave him in the car — or I’m running in the afternoon & it’s too hot.

  2. Congrats for completing your last long run! I think it was very smart to incorporate those pit stops as part of your training since surely you will be making them on race day too. Enjoy the taper!
