Weekly Workout

hawk fifty mile training| w17

The week started out strong (on Tuesday of course) and traveling to elevation in CO made getting in my Saturday/Sunday/Monday runs a little more interesting! Only one more week until the big dance…er, run/power hike/walk/swim… Yeah, I hope the water goes down BIG TIME because I wasn’t planning on swimming…

Weekly Workouts

Monday- OFF

Tuesday- 4 miles

Some alarms missed…and a late start, but with only 4 miles on the docket today, I had plenty of time! I went out for 3 solo miles and then came home for my last mile with my gal… She just knows that when I get home and head for the bathroom door (grabbing a plastic bag for poo), she is going to go for a run! Talk about a spazz… : )

Wednesday- 6 miles 3 miles

I am not sure why my legs just won’t swing out of bed in the morning…maybe tomorrow will be the lucky day!

I settled for 3 morning miles – the last one with the pup! My tapering legs are finding some faster paces easily…so I really need to slow down!! But it does help with the pup…she is a speedy one!

Thursday- 6 miles 5 miles + 3 miles + 1 mile

Nope, another snoozed morning…the hubs asked if I was going to the gym, and I said, “No, I am running outside. When are you going to the gym?” He said, “In like 20 minutes.” WHAT?! Out the door I went… You see, usually he goes to the gym at 7am…which would leave me JUST enough time to get in my miles. I guess that is changing? We will just need to have that conversation the night before… OR, I just need to get up with my first alarm, and not the 15th…

Right before my morning run, I realized that totally forgot about my second 3 mile run yesterday…crap. Well, due to some long hours at work this week, I was blessed with a long lunch today! I went home to look for some paperwork for the hubs…then I went out for a 3 mile solo jaunt and took Pai for her mile : )

Friday- OFF

While I sort of wanted to back-log at least one of my weekend runs today (traveling + camping = not great timing for running), we left town early enough that it wasn’t possible…

I just hope that I don’t get eaten by a bear in the wilderness…

Saturday- 10 miles 5.5+ miles + 2 mile hike up a mountain

Since we are in the wilderness, I didn’t have cell signal for a couple days – no Instagram snips to show for : ) Either way, my upcoming blog post about the weekend will show some of the amazing views!

I ran around the lake a little bit, planned on 10 miles, but got back to camp with over 5 and decided to call it a day! The elevation was getting to me a little and I didn’t want to spend hours away from the family when this trip was not about me… Breakfast was ready when I came through to get more water and I just decided to stop.

Plus, the hubs and I went on the hiking trail and around 500′ up the mountain! I am not sure I thought I would ever be able to run or explore with my hubs – but his new found fitness is changing that!

Sunday- 6 miles 2.75 miles

Again, I set out to get in a few miles before breakfast…and a few miles it was! I went around the close campgrounds and then on the hiking trail – and when I passed through camp, I stopped…

I just hope that I won’t stop at the main aid station next weekend when I am only halfway though my race!

Weekly Miles : 25 miles + 1.36 walking miles (talk about a killer taper!!)

1648 / 2,016 miles in 2016

Next Week’s Projected Workouts

Oh boy! This week is my big race!!

HawkCountdown.jpg

I am nervous and excited! I really enjoyed my run with the Hawks on the Clinton Lake trails, but 1) I have seen images of high water on the course, 2) I had had nightmares about being bitten by a rattlesnake, and 3) I am not ready for the crazy amount of bug bites again…

I’ll see you on course! I’ll be sporting the BibRave ORANGE! Check out why I think you should run the KCM and what I am looking forward to this year!

Based off Coach Eladio’s training plans, I should be working on some speed workouts right now! While slow and steady is on my mind at the moment, I have an idea of how to pickup the pace in a couple weeks! : )

  1. Sounds like a great week! When we were in UT, I did my last long run and then I just hiked until the race. 🙂 Well, I did do one run, but yeah, that elevation can get to you!

I hope you are having a great taper week and good luck with the race!
