Bring on the taper weeks! Last weekend’s 20 miler really took it out of me…and I needed a little extra love with my CTM Band the beginning of this week.
While this training cycle is winding down, I have a lot going on the rest of this year! This training time between my previous 50K run and the big 100M training cycle will have several races. This cycle is focused on the Garmin Marathon where I will be pacing the 5:30 runners!
Be sure to check out the Godspeed documentary I posted about last week…this movie will MAKE you want to get moving and do something EPIC! I cannot wait to see it in a full theater on May 22nd ♥
weekly workouts : week 6 (apr 2)
Monday
Scheduled : OFF
Actual : OFF + evening cardio
While I had a SLIGHT pull to want to make up the missed miles from yesterday, I decided against it. Save my energy…or something like that. Plus, it is a little on the chilly side today, and that can help me stay inside for sure!
Tuesday
Scheduled : 5 miles
Actual : 2 quick miles + evening cardio
A BRISK 20-degree morning run didn’t suit my fancy…and a busy work day kept me at my desk. I was able to get away for a couple miles around the block and that felt great! Too bad it was a little too far on the chilly, windy side after work for little man and I to go for a walk…
Wednesday
Scheduled : 6 miles
Actual : 5 interval miles + evening cardio recovery
Another cold morning…and warm sheets ♥ I packed up my lunch run bag for an afternoon jaunt. It still isn’t too “warm” (45 degrees)…but better than the temps to start the day!
I was able to keep warm-ish by turning my lunch run into a mild-to-tough interval workout. I didn’t push the pace too much, but enough to get some good leg turnover. Felt great! Minus the encounter with a pack of small dogs – they were hanging out in the front yard where the side yard chain link fence was slightly open – so I put them back. Hopefully that was their yard – or someone has some new pups…better than being hit by a car.
Also, I was able to get a good, hardish workout in my FlipBelt Crops. I don’t know if it was the way I washed them or laid them out to dry, but they didn’t feel as tight to my body as they did in last week’s runs (even the 20 miler last Saturday). I am going to try and wash them a little differently this time and see if that helps. If not, I might have just ordered a size too big…
Thursday
Scheduled : 5 miles
Actual : 6 easy paced miles + 3 lunch errand miles + 1 mile pup/kid walk + evening cardio
Since I fell short of my 6 mile run yesterday, I decided to switch days and run an easy 6 this morning. The start in the 40s was a nice change for this week…the cold, cold temps can go away for a while…
On another note, this was the first (and second) run where I started testing the Orange Mud Gear Vest as a BibRave Pro! From first glance (check out my saved Instagram Highlights), the pack feels sturdy and breathable with lots of pockets and a 1L bladder. With 2L of storage space, this pack can accomodate for some fun adventures (including running lunch errands)!
I will be using it for the next several weeks on most of my runs for testing purposes (and beyond for sure!!). If you are interested in purchasing from Orange Mud, use the code BRGV15 for 15% off! ♥
Friday
Scheduled : 2 miles
Actual : 2 miles
A cold, cold day that I didn’t want to get outside for…but I did anyway! I was going to run another errand today, but it would have been twice the miles (4 miles…not toooooo far) and cooooooooold. So I drove to my errand and then ran around the park a couple times. Done and done.
Saturday
Scheduled : 12 miles
Actual : 6 miles
I was NOT looking forward to this run…not in the least! It is going to be legit winter again…and I don’t like winter!
The real feel temp is like 10 degrees fahrenheit – too cold! I was able to gut out one loop of the group run route even though I planned on two…I just wasn’t feeling it! I am not sure what it is…maybe the cold taking my motivation from me…
Sunday
Scheduled : 4 miles
Actual : OFF
No morning run. No afternoon run. No evening run… Well…shoot.
Weekly Miles : 25 miles + 5 cardio workouts
Training Miles : 244 miles
Annual Miles : 585 miles (goal = 2,018 in 2018)
Next Week’s Projected Workouts
Monday- OFF
Tuesday- 4 miles
Wednesday- 5 miles
Thursday- 4 miles
Friday-2 miles

The cold has been sucking the run out of a lot of us!
I’ll be curious on your review of the Orange Mud–I don’t know how I’d like the water sloshing around back there!

I do like the water higher on my back!

The weather has sucked royally lately. I’m hoping to not see more snow after today. Thankfully I’m not training for anything right now. Just building back after injury.

I’m hoping for no more snow…but that just means there will be rain 😂

The temps should be more “spring like”this week…unlike last week’s craziness…

The cold weather has been brutal! You did great with your workouts all things considered! I hope the Flipbelt Crops fit better, they look interesting but I always worry about the fit when it comes to running belts.

Truth! My running belts always ride up…a smaller size has helped big time!

Ooh cant wait to go watch…Im also training for a 75 miler in July in London. Ive only done a 50 last Summer so it will be an all time distance for me. Happy training…

Nice! I really enjoyed the longer distance training cycles – I wanted to get in a 100K before the big day, but I think that might be a bit much for this training cycle. Best of luck in your training as well!

It should NOT still be 20 degrees in April. No, Mother Nature. NO!

The struggle to run in the cold when it should be warm is tough.

😂😂 That would be tough… I just wish the weather would be “normal” for a bit…

What a bummer about the crops! They should feel the same after washing them.
No comment about the weather. 🙂

I am not sure what happened with the crops that I got…but I was able to get a new pair and they have been great!

That is awesome! Maybe it was just a defective pair?

I love my flip belt crops. I got them for Christmas and I admit I wore them without washing them first. I don’t think I’ve worn them since I washed them so now I am wondering if mine will fit funny now too….lol…i better go check!

I still wear them a lot, just not as much working out. They are perfect for the weekend #momlife
