weekly workouts : week 5 (may 21)
Monday
Scheduled : OFF
Actual : 3 mile walk
Since we drove back home early this morning and ran late, I just has the hubs drop me off at work. Since we live around 3 miles from my work, I figured that I would be able to walk home to get my car over lunch…which is what I did! It was warm and I didn’t wear “proper shoes” but I was able to make it happen!
Tuesday
Scheduled : 8 miles
Actual : 6 miles + 2 miles
A late start, go figure, and settled with 6 morning miles. I decided to pack up a bag and meet up with the local Tuesday evening group run out at Manhattan Running Co. I basically ran until my COROS™ PACE beeped at me for the first mile and then headed back.
Wednesday
Scheduled : 8 miles
Actual : 8 miles
BAH! I will keep trying to get up early…and it almost happened today! I got to bed just a little later than I wanted, I woke up with my first alarm…but then I laid my head back down. I really need to put my alarm in another room…THAT would force me to get up before I wake EVERYONE up. Whatever, I got out – and while I didn’t do the workout I had planned out of timing fear, I was able to get in the miles early.
Thursday
Scheduled : 5am/5pm miles
Actual : 6am miles + 4pm miles
Today is a day that I NEED to get up and going early so I can get out the door on time… I took the day off work to drive back to KC for my dear, dear family friend’s funeral. Run first, get ready, take little man to daycare, and hit the road. On my way back to Manhattan, I stopped at a trail in Topeka to get in my second run.
Friday
Scheduled : 8 miles
Actual : 6 miles
What is with this week (and last week) and being 8 miles every day?? I didn’t make the plan…someone online did. While I felt like my runs yesterday felt fresh, today was a slog…and not the miles I needed either.
Anyone else need at least 3 miles to get in the grove? I decided at around 2.75 that today wasn’t the day to get in 8 miles and once my watch beeped for 3 miles, I turned around and went home. I was thankful for a little extra time to get ready for the day (since I got out late again), but not too happy about not getting in all the miles. Maybe I would have felt better if I just continued…but today just wasn’t the day to find out.
Saturday
Scheduled : 15 miles
Actual : 15 miles
Today started much earlier than I would have liked…and sleeping is for the birds! While I was able to meet up with the group run at 5:30am, I already had 10 miles on my shoes and needed to head home. With the hubs riding his bike to work most days, I need to be sure to be home at or before 7am. Maybe for some early mornings for sure…
Sunday
Scheduled : 15 miles
Actual : 15 miles
Since the hubs and I worked out our workout schedules, I was able to get up and get on the trails at first light. I haven’t ran the Konza Prairie trails since last fall and I sure did miss them! Today was TOUGH…and I started talking myself out of miles from the start. It’s a good thing that I would be running 6 miles to get out of the first loop and by that time, I was ready and willing to make the rest happen.
Weekly Miles : 62 miles + 3 walking
HHR mini cycle : 274 miles
100m Training Miles : 274 miles
Annual Miles : 924 miles (goal = 2,018 in 2018)

Great job, and I don’t run as far but I need about 2 miles before I feel like I am in a groove!

Nice mileage this week. The back to back 15 milers is very impressive as well. Good luck this weekend at your half marathon! Hope the weather will be nice. Thanks for linking.

Good job on hanging in there and getti.g those miles in. Seems like the runs where I talk myself out of the miles (like I have 5 planned but half way thru tell myself I’ll only do 3), are the runs where I end up doing really well. I think it’s because I alleviate the pressure of doing the higher miles so then I just end up relaxing and then having a better run.

So true! With longer miles, I still find myself talking down the miles…but since I usually have more time with EARLY alarms, my mind is a little better.
