Holy heck – how is it already time to taper for my first 100 miler!? Where has the time gone!?
Well…with that said, I am going off the script this weekend for miles. The hay is in the barn and there isn’t any use making my legs more tired than necessary. I am going to back off on the weekend miles for the next two weeks (per a good running friend’s suggestion) and allow my legs to rest a little more. Heck! Some of the miles this week may just be walking ort power hiking rather than running – getting a little crazy over here! Ha!
Let’s run!
weekly workouts : week 18 (aug 20)
Monday
Scheduled : OFF
Actual : OFF
Yes, rest – please and thank you!
Tuesday
Scheduled : 3 miles
Actual : 3 miles
The hubs went fishing this morning – so no early work or early run. I packed up my lunch run bag and hit the trail! I was sure that the trail was not mush before getting too far – but the recent rain was much needed and already soaked into the ground!
Wednesday
Scheduled : 6 miles
Actual : 3 miles + 3 miles
Per my recent Wednesday morning routine, I ran 3 EARLY miles to work, work for a couple hours, and then ran home to get the little one ready for the day. The cool air felt great while the literal 100% humidity was less than appealing…
Thursday
Scheduled : 4 miles
Actual : 4.5 miles
Sometimes I forget how long my routes are – and I only planned on 4 miles, but I’ll take 4.5 and still be back to work on time, ha!
Friday
Scheduled : 4 miles
Actual : OFF
With an early morning and a busy day, my run just didn’t happen. Saving my energy I guess…
Saturday
Scheduled : 13 miles
Actual : 11.25 miles + 1.5 mile walk
I was up early to meet up with the running group I have missed for quite a while (long, long distance training on the trails will do that to you). It was good to see the ones that showed up and even met someone new!
Once home, little man and I headed out to volunteer at a local race. After standing and cowbelling for an hour and a half, we decided to go for a walk. I didn’t think to start my GPS, but we walked about 3/4 of a mile out and I carried him 3/4 mile back…
Sunday
Scheduled : 10 miles (6)
Actual : OFF
The early morning rain and relaxing day at home kept me sane, and an evening with the family kept me from heading out in the dark. I’ve been working on going through my thoughts on paper for 100m prep…getting butterflies in my gut…
Weekly Miles : 26 miles
100m Training Miles : 1021 miles
Annual Miles : 1670 miles (goal = 2,018 in 2018)

How’d you like the 3+3 as opposed to 6?

I am okay with it…the timing for my runs works better breaking it up sometimes.

Some rest sounds good to me at this point in your training! You have a ton of miles for the year so far — nice work!

At think fresh legs and rest are the most important thing at this point. You’ve worked hard and have a lot of miles in the training bank. Enjoy the taper! Thanks for linking.

Wow, well done on doing what you did, and I think your plan is sensible. I often forget how long my routes are – I promised 5 miles to my two friends on Sunday then it was 5.5, oops! Have a good taper!

Yay for rest! You have really rocked this training cycle and totally deserve it! 🙂 I am just starting my training for a Nov half marathon. Ran a half last weekend and then 9 miles this weekend….hoping to hit near or around my PR for this one!
