veggies + sweets | WIAW

Today was just one of those days that the dishes and laundry were calling my name…and EARLY.

Rather than starting my day with a run (like I should have), I emptied the dishwasher, loaded it back up and started it, hung the clothes in the dryer, switched the laundry and started a new load, hung 3 loads of laundry that I laid out over the past few days, unloaded the dishwasher (hot plates!!) and reloaded it with the remaining dishes, hung the clothes in the dryer, switched out the laundry and started another new load…

All before quickly packing my lunch and heading out the door to work!

Busy day ahead!

[pre-breakfast + morning joe] I started my day early with a small banana and bulletproof coffee (coconut oil + ghee + coffee)

[morning smoothie] Manitoba Harvest Hemp Protein (with greens…and a lot of them!) – chocolate flavor

I am not completely sold on the Hemp Protein WITH GREENS quite yet. The greens are a STRONG flavor and while I usually enjoy my protein smoothie like my coffee – straight up with water and ice – I need to play with recipes for these smoothies. The first taste is a little intense…but I did get used to the greens by the end. Eh…either way, they will be used!

[morning small meal snack] roasted sweet potato + roasted onion + 2 hard boiled eggs

Nothing warms my belly more than roasted sweet potatoes and roasted onions 🙂 I planned on finding something else to put in my vegetable/starch containers for the week…but it just didn’t happen! So I snacked on a couple hard boiled eggs as well.

[lunch workout] 0.3 mile RUN to the gym + Power Lunch + 0.7 mile run back to work

I was running late to the gym…so I used my “shortcut” route. Power Lunch was fun with the exercise ball the whole time…no sitting around this workout, unless squats while holding the ball in front of you counts as sitting…no? Didn’t think so. I made up my running distance (since I usually run 0.5 mi there/back for 1 full mile) after class with a little different route.

[lunch] zucchini noodles + homegrown tomatoes + kielbasa + red pepper flakes

We are starting to lose our tomato plants…so I am cherishing the last of our home grown tomatoes. They taste so much better and have more flavor than the store bought ones…

[afternoon snack] banana + almond butter + green peppers

I recently received a package of Yumbutter from an instagram giveaway…and this stuff is grrreat! It is super easy to pour over any snack – I mostly eat it with apples or bananas. Yeah, peppers don’t exactly go with a sweet treat, but I am a snacker,…and the peppers lasted me 20 minutes…just snacking as I worked!

[dinner] homemade macaroni bake + romaine salad with cucumber and spicy ranch

When little man and I got home from work, the hubs was cooking away! He made a big cast iron skillet of baked macaroni and cheese with kielbasa sausage 🙂 Yum! I quickly made up a salad to eat with it…and little man decided he wanted my cucumbers. #alwayssittingatthekidstable

[evening snack] 1/2 cup of ice cream (little man ended up eating some of it too…mooch)
