This week is all about recovering from traveling and preparing for my first 50K on Saturday!
Most of the week was spent on tired, heavy legs…which got into my head a little and I started getting super nervous for the race on Saturday!
Well…my legs were one of the last things I needed to worry about…the weather was a bigger deal!
Weekly Workouts
Monday- no workout…yeah, not a single Monday this month! That needs to change REAL fast!
Tuesday- A morning run (that should have happened Monday morning) to start the day!
Wednesday- Another morning with miles…good! Feeling yuck…
Thursday- Well, I took a hint from my body and took it easy the next couple days. Yes, I had every plan and intention to go run,…but my exhaustion and heavy legs needed me to slow down before the big day!
Friday- I wanted and planned to go to yoga in the morning,…but it just didn’t happen.
Saturday- Kansas Rails-To-Trails Fall Ultra Extravaganza – Prairie Spirit Trail 50K
Sunday- rest and relaxation
Weekly Miles : 42 workout miles
1510 / 2,016 miles in 2016
Next Week’s Projected Workouts
This week’s is all about helping my legs recover…and quickly!
While I didn’t go balls-to-the-wall in my first 50K, I did put a lot of time and distance on them! Soreness and old lady walking technique is bound to happen…but I have a little more running I. The coming weeks before I can start thinking about complete rest…
Check out some awesome #linkups this week!
As always, there is the great Weekly Wrap link-up with Holly and Tricia! I found a new Monday linkup called #MotivateMe Monday, hosted by Lucie, Janice, and Rachel! Also, check out Ilka and Angela’s Sunday Fitness & Food link up!
Check out the Tuesday’s on the Run gang as well: Patty, Erika, & Marcia! I am also linking up with Annmarie, Jen, Nicole, and Michelle for Wild Workout Wednesday 🙂 Check out the new Coaches Corner linkup with Suz, Rachel, Debbie, and Lora.
How did your training week go? What are you training for?
I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment and start a conversation!
Congrats on the race! The medal is awesome! Even though you didn’t have as much activity during the week as you wanted, I bet that worked to your advantage in giving your body (especially your legs) some rest prior to your 50K.

SO many congrats! That is freaking fantastic, and you are a rock star! I agree with Kim–maybe it all worked out for the better, right? Who knows?

I totally think it worked out for the better…my legs felt tired all week…which seems to happen the week before a race anyway!

a 50km is such a huge accomplishment, you totally deserve some rest time for those legs. Also, using a Momentum jewllery bracelet as a hair tie, that’s brilliant!

Thank you! My legs are feeling great, somewhat surprisingly 🙂 Slow and steady worked well for me and I have already started putting miles on again 🙂

Congratulations on your first 50k race! I’m so happy to read your Dad was there to share in your incredible accomplishment! Is that a medal or a belt buckle? It’s very nice with the brassy finish either way. Hope you have gotten some rest this week! Thanks for linking, Lindsey!

Thanks! I was SO surprised that he came out 🙂 I loved having him there for the last 3 main stops, gave me something to drive me forward! It is a finishers “buckle”…I guess that is how ultra marathons work 🙂 Now I need a “buckle rack” or “buckle hangers”…? If that is such a thing!

I didn’t push hard and just enjoyed the day! I drank HTWO the days leading up, day of, and days after…I’m not completely sure how it works (my hubs thinks it is a load of crap) but I was able to start miles within a couple days – and I ran a half last weekend 😜
