Almond Butter Maca Energy Balls

**Disclaimer – I received samples of Gaia Maca through my affiliation with FitFluential. I enjoyed learning more about Maca and want to share the love! I was not required to post a blog review and I was not further compensated for this post – as always, all opinions are my own.

Maca

What is maca?

Maca is a caffeine-free supplement powder that supports energy and stamina. Not sure what that means? Yeah, I didn’t either at first…

Benefits

Maca is a plant that thrives in extreme environments – the maca harvested by Gaia Herbs is found in the volcanic areas of Peru.

Maca is an adaptogen, meaning that it supports a healthy response to stress. Maca can be used to support energy and stamina – as well as support a healthy libido for both men and women.

Gaia Herbs uses the process of geletanization (a process to remove the starch) to be sure their maca easy to digest and absorb into our bodies. While maca can be eaten cooked or fresh, it is most easily taken in powder form.

Adding Maca To Your Routine

I usually add Maca to my morning smoothies – but you can also add it to juices, oatmeal, sprinkled on yogurt, or added to homemade snacks!

[Recipe] Almond Butter Maca Balls

I have a tried and true base for making protein/snack balls – so I just subbed the protein powder for some maca and oats and BOOM, an amazing new snack in 3 minutes flat!

You can use any mix-ins that you like…dried fruit is always a great choice 🙂 I seem to gravitate to the dark chocolate chips. Yum!!

Almond Butter Maca Balls
  • 1/3 cup almond butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp maca
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3 tbsp dark chocolate chips

Mix the almond butter and honey – then add the remainder of the dry ingredients.

Makes about 12 protein balls.

Form into balls, add any additional toppings and enjoy!

Keep them in the fridge for a tasty, energizing snack anytime!
