I really enjoy linking up with Tuesdays On The Run – after all, my blog is MOSTLY running based, with a little real life sprinkled in…
Last week, Erika, Marcia, and Patty discussed, “Giving your running month a letter grade”! I am going to try and post something similar month to month…
This grade is going to be based on (1) my current training plan, and my goals for 2017 – (2) my progress for 2017 miles in 2017 goal, (3) training for and completing my first 50 miler, (4) having fun while on the run and (5) keeping a run streak!
(1) Current Training Plan – A
My current training plan is soon going to have a dual purpose… My current plan is for my 50M race in September, but in a week or so, I would “need” to start training for my fall marathon! Busy busy…
I have been doing a good job of getting my running in before my day really starts! While I have been mixing up my B2B long runs on the weekend, I have been making the miles happen!
(2) 2017 miles in 2017 – A
I have been keeping up pretty well with my goal of running/walking 2017 miles in 2017 : ) I am a little ahead of schedule and keeping miles up this summer better than last year!
I know that my summer running was where I lost some momentum last year…so keeping on my training for the Hawk 50 is helping me stay on track!
Speaking of the Hawk 50…
(3) Training for and completing my first 50m – B+
Heat and Humidity.
These are the things that make summer running more……interesting, that’s the word!
I am in week 9 of an 18 week training plan – HALFWAY THERE! Wow, time flies when you are having fun! While the weekend long runs are becoming more and more daunting, I am finding ways to have fun! One weekend back home, I ran from my in-laws to my best friend’s house – 18 miles between! Heading out to the trails, I have been running loops to take advantage of some major vertical change – and keeping/counting rocks each loop makes the miles go by a with a small goal each loop.
There is a 50K (or 31M) training run coming up, so I signed up for the “Psycho Psummer” Run Toto Run 50K trail run at Wyandotte County Lake Park in KC. While the race is a couple weeks earlier than the planned distance in my plan, I wanted to make the distance more interesting with a race, rather than just gutting through 31 miles solo.
A few weeks after registering, I discovered a “members only” event at the trails in which my 50M will take place on the weekend I need 31 miles…sooooooo. We shall see if I will get those miles again or just trade the training weeks…
(4) Have Fun! – B
I have been having so much fun running these days! Yeah, I am tired and slow…but I am enjoying my time on the road and trail! I have met several people on the trail – mostly on the 2.5 mile loop day,…passing walkers 2-3 times!

I am sure glad that I have the time to think and run…
(5) Run streak! – 30 days and counting!
Thanks for Jen’s #streakingwiththeCOOLkids in June, I was able to get another streak started! I am now on day 35 : ) We shall see how long this lasts, but I am making the goal to keep it up!
How are your goals going for this year? Did you set your sights high? Are you thinking about a big race this year?
Check out the link-up with Erika, Marcia, and Patty and see what everyone is talking about this week! I am also linking up with the Wild Workout Wednesday and the Coaches Corner linkup!
I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment and start a conversation!
