This past week came and went so fast! I decided to start the Insanity program (for like the 10th time…) to help me get some quick muscle response – or at least that it what I hope happens! Since I have been training low and slow, I would love to get a little more speed and possibly shoot for a marathon PR in a few weeks!
Wait…
Didn’t I just finish my first 50-miler two weeks ago?! Feels like forever… Here we go!!
Weekly Workouts
Monday- OFF – With the run yesterday afternoon/evening and impending thunderstorms all day, I decided to take the morning off from running. At least I rolled my legs out a little before heading out for the day!
My new routine for a bit is adding “living room workouts” to my day. I have had the Insanity DVDs for years…but never have completed the full sequence… So, here’s another try!
Evening Workout : Insanity Fit Test
Morning Run : OFF
Tuesday- I was somehow able to roll out of bed early enough to get my workout in before my meet-up time with Ang. Whoop!
Morning Workout : Insanity Plyometric Circuit
Morning Run : 5.3 easy miles
Wednesday- My running schedule called for today to be an OFF day…so I didn’t run : ) But that didn’t keep me from getting my workout completed! I am still sore…but the aches and pains are less and less each day – OR the pain is just in a new area…
Morning Workout : Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance
Morning Run : OFF
Thursday- Right before I headed out for my run, I set up my RunGo App for the route I planned to run. I needed 5 intervals and then planned on running with my friend for a park loop after. I walked outside, made my map, and then hit the road! With a little mishap on the run, I ended up with 2 maps for the run…either way, the RunGo App worked as expected!
Turn-by-turn, I was able to zone out and know where to go – the voice was just a little off after the Garmin mishap – I talk about this on my review : )
Morning Run : 2.5 interval miles + 5 easy miles
Morning Workout : Insanity Cardio Recovery
Friday- Listen to the plan. Listen to the plan. OKAY! While “3 easy miles” feels like it is hardly worth the time…I just need to listen to the plan!
When I got home, I started the DVD player and queued up today’s workout – Pure Cardio! Since my run was complete and I was already warmed up, my HR was a little higher than it typically is when I do the workout BEFORE my run…no biggie!
Morning Run : 3 easy miles w/fast finish
Morning Workout : Insanity Pure Cardio
Saturday- On Friday evening, I made my map (or several maps) on the RunGo App for my possible long run route. I knew that I wanted to get in a handful of hills…and I knew the time that I needed to get the run in before the hubs left for work. Check out my review of the RunGo App and try it for yourself!!
I was sure glad to have some new podcast episodes to listen to! Thank you BibRave Podcast, Diz Runs, Kelly Roberts, Another Mother Runner, and Trail Runner Nation for keeping me going!
Morning Run : 20 miles before 8am!
Morning Workout : rest/recovery
Sunday- While I didn’t get out for a morning run or workout, I planned on doing it later in the day! Little man and I went out to cheer on the local Konquer the Konza 25K/10K event. We rang our bells and had a good time cheering our friends : ) Then we came home and took naps…and relaxed most of the day.
When the hubs got home from watching the Chiefs game, he wanted to run! So we went with him : ) With a kiddo in the stroller and dog on my waist, we were off! The hubs wanted me to “pace him to 10 minute miles”… “What?! I don’t even train at 10 minute miles…” So we tried! The pace was easier than expected…I think the pup was pulling us most of the way…
Evening Workout Run : 2.5 quick, but easy miles (missed workout, oh well!)
Weekly Miles : 37 miles
1771 / 2,016 miles in 2016
Next Week’s Projected Workouts
I am seeing some interval times that I haven’t seen in a LONG time! I am glad that I still have a little speed in my legs – with the hopes for a new marathon PR in a few weeks!

I’ve had Insanity for years too but never finished it either! It’s just so hard – and I run and lift so I’m no slouch – but there’s something about it that I personally find impossible!

Yes…it is WAY harder if I wait to do it in the evening…I am WAY more motivated to get it done in the morning!

I keep thinking I should try Insanity, but most days I can’t even make myself do a 10 minute strength workout. It’s just not as much fun as running.

I usually get through a week before my motivation fades…so here’s to getting to week 2 🙂

That’s awesome that you’re back at it so smoothly after your 50 miler! Nice job with your workouts! I’ve never done the Insanity DVD’s but the infomercials look intense, lol! The app looks really cool, I’ll have to check it out!

Yeah, the workouts are intense too! Especially with a cranky little person and a wild batch of pets trying to stop me 🙂

I can’t believe how quickly you recovered from your 50 miler! It’s pretty cool how the RunGo App gives you the directions you need! Thanks for linking.

The joy of running “low and slow” for a long time 🙂 I was somehow able to pull out a 9:13 pace in the lat mile! The turn-by-turn is great!
