Saturday
Like most weekends, I started out with a run. The best way, right?!
I almost over slept to meet up with the group…but coffee was ready and I was out the door in no time! I needed a 60 minute run today – which I equate to 6 miles (even if it takes a little longer than 60 minutes).
I started running with Bob and Sheryl and tried to keep up the entire run. I am not one to keep up with other runners because my “long run” pace is slower…but I think the taper has my legs feeling fresh and I was able to keep up my pace! No negative splits, but overall a faster pace than I am used to!
When I got home, I decided to take my bag of race shirts in the house. I planned on organizing them the last time I went to KC, but I just didn’t find the time…and they have been in my car ever since.
I plan to send them to Prohect Repeat this coming week – which means I have some organizing and cutting to do this weekend. *More to come* 😀
I decided to make a protein smoothie for breakfast – it was a little late after my workout (shame on me) but oh well. I mixed a packet of Manitoba Harvest Hemp Protein plus greens with a scoop of my usual Smooth Vanilla Nuzest.
Since the “plus greens” can be a strong taste, the extra protein makes it taste a lot better, to me. I think I am slowly getting used to the “greens” taste because I am starting to use less extra protein powder to help with the taste 😀
I am fairly sure the blender noise in the kitchen woke up little man…so he wanted out of his cell. Ha!
Since I am a bad mom and didn’t want to share my smoothie, I made him his own 😀 “I like it!” Mom win!
Well…I guess I should have put my shirt quilt away before I got too distracted. Pai decided to make my mess a bed… So, maybe I should make her a bed with my scraps 😆
After relaxing for a bit, I decided to get outside while we still could – a line of storms are coming in and we’ll likely be stuck inside some of the day.
All was fun and walking, until little man ate concrete… He scraped up his knee some and made sure everyone knew about it. So it was time to head home…
I love when little man asks for healthy snacks… I thought a piece of cheese was a good snack, but then he asked for green peppers 😀 Yum!
Before too long, it was time for little man to go down for a nap.
Meal prep time!!
Sweet potato ✔️ (minus the growing tater…)
Lunch is served! Leftover vegetables + guacamole + fresh roasted sweet potato = yum!
Crock-Pot Pulled Pork (no pictures…blogger fail)
3.5 lb pork loin
1 red onion, sliced thin
Seasonings of choice
1/2 bottle of BBQ sauce
1 can of light beer
- Rinse off the pork loin and pat dry; mix seasonings and coat the loin – I used the hubs pre made meat rub (not really sure what all is in it)
- Put the sliced onion in the bottom of the crock pot; place the seasoned meat on top (fat side up)
- Mix up the BBQ sauce and beer; pour mixture over the meat and throughout the crock pot
- Set the crock pot to low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is 210 degrees internally
- Shred and enjoy!
Nap time lasted between 2-3 hours…I forgot what time I put him down… While I should have been cooking or cleaning or something, I decided to veg out and watch Netflix 🙂
Frozen summer cherries are the best and time of the year!
Hiding from the thunder is more fun when mom is the jungle gym… Little cuddles are far and few between – so when he wants to be on my lap snuggled up, I am all about it 😀 (even when he stabs me with his elbows and smashes my bladder…)
After spending quite a bit of the day inside, we had plans to go see little man’s first movie! We headed to the KSU Student Union for the 7pm showing of Finding Dory 😀
Most of the movie he was calm and watched the movie…but towards the end, he was all over the place. I guess it is a good thing that is was a cheap movie with lots of little kids in the crowd.
Once we got home, it was time for bed! Little man went down without too much fess. And since the hubs was out for the evening, I went to bed early as well!
How do you start your weekend off right? What do you to stay busy when the weather won’t let you be outside? At what age was your kids first movie theater experience?
Check out some awesome #linkups this week!
There is the great Weekly Wrap #linkup with Holly and Tricia! Also, check out a couple other weekend updates with Meghan, Katie, the Tumbleweed Contessa!
I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment and start a conversation!
Sometimes I watch Net Flix and chill while the baby naps. Sure, there’s laundry and dishes and cleaning to be done, but we gotta relax too. 🙂 I love all those roasted veggies for lunch.

Oh yes…it is WAY easier to relax when I am not needing to stay awake and watch the kiddo. Nap time is always mommy time

I so need to do this with my old race shirts! When you can feed your smoothie to your kids, you know your eating healthy right??
My baby is 20, seems like yesterdayI was taking her to the movies and hoping she would sit through it all.

I’m sure you have a ton of shirts! A great idea to keep warm for your Racecations 😀 Little man always wants my smoothies…I guess I should be teaching him to share ❤️

I had a Project Repat quilt made several years ago. All that cutting made my hand so sore! LOL. You will love the results! I remember the first movie my youngest sat through without moving: Polar Express. He was probably 3-4 years old. Thanks for linking, Lindsey!
