I didn’t have much of a taper during my first half marathon…recurring taper through half marathons 2-4…a strong taper for marathon #1…and a STRONG taper for any races this fall (including the 50K coming in a couple weeks!!).
The Taper
quirks
The biggest fault in my stars of the taper is my restless legs! I just want to keep running and running…
In my mind, maybe I feel like I haven’t trained enough… No clue. I know that I have done all I can do, so I just shouldn’t think too much about it.
cravings
My eating habits and cravings can get a little out of hand. My go-to meals include a lot of sweet potatoes…carb up for the big day!
Also, I find myself craving more junk that I don’t usually eat! Like…cupcakes…and tacos!
rituals
I am not sure that I have any taper “rituals”…
I DO try and focus on relaxing, yoga, and rolling to keep myself from going a little crazy.
