Monthly Goals · Year Of Running

July Running

I really enjoy linking up with Tuesdays On The Run – after all, my blog is MOSTLY running based, with a little real life sprinkled in…

It’s time to connect with ErikaMarcia, and Patty and give my running a letter grade for this past month! I am going to try and post something similar month to month…

This grade is going to be based on (1) my current training plan, and my goals for 2017 – (2) my progress for 2017 miles in 2017 goal, (3) training for and completing my first 50 miler, (4) having fun while on the run and (5) keeping a run streak!

(1) Current Training Plan – A-

While I am pretty good about following my training plan, there are always a few bumps in the road. Whether it is a missed workout made up the next day (which should have been a “rest day” – whatever those are…) or a long run cut short due to time…we can’t always be perfect!

I have made the most of all the workouts I have started, but I have had to cut a couple long runs short. I am hoping that August brings more motivation to stick to the prescribed miles, because that will help me be more prepared for September!

(2) 2017 miles in 2017 – A

I am well on my way to be able to complete 2017 miles this year! I am sitting around 1400 miles now, a couple hundred ahead of schedule : )

(3) Training for and completing my first 50m –  A-

Similar to (1) Current Training Plan, I am working through my training to best prepare myself for the Hawk 50! #Team2Loops

There was a course preview run last weekend that I didn’t go to… I wasn’t able to go because 1) I was JUST in KC the weekend before and 2) my training called for less miles. Yeah, I actually listened to my plan…ha! I hope that there is another opportunity to try out the trails at Clinton Lake before the race…just so I am not running in blind…

I have a little over a month of training to go before the main event…so here’s to many happy, fun filled miles!!

(4) Have Fun! –  B

While I wish that 90% of my runs are fun, there are surely those low days…

I had a lot of fun in my 50K training run a couple weeks ago – even though it was 117 degrees in the middle of the day – but I still had fun!

Some days, you just need to find the silver lining and make as much of your time running (inside or outside) an enjoyable experience!

(5) Run streak! –  n/a

While I was able to complete the #streakingwiththeCOOLkids in June, I didn’t necessarily care to keep it going forever. I was able to get a couple more weeks of a streak going, but a few hot or lazy days broke the momentum a couple times this month. Nothing to scoff about…streaking just isn’t my game : )
