Weekly Workout

still movin’ | weekly workouts

Some days, running comes with such ease.

Other days, it is pure torture. With my past ultra distance training, I ran more long, slow miles than I ever thought I could… Now that I have a few ultras under my belt, I would like to be able to break a PR or two. I love the courses that I have been able to run!

Even though a 10-miler is not an ultra distance, the trail is one that destroyed me not too long ago… I look forward to beating my 1-loop time in a few weeks out at Wyco Park at the Alt. Chili Run!

While I am out another “standard” training cycle, I will be trying to hit the trails more than a few times in the next 3 weeks!! Just maybe not this week…

Monday- OFF

Tuesday- 3+ Runners Safety Group Night Run
I saved my energy this morning and mid-day for tonight’s group run! It started a little later than usual because it is the annual Runners Safety Month Night Group Run! There were over 180 planning on attending (plus, you get a FREE shirt!) and while I am not sure how many showed up, there were A LOT of people running! In past years, the running company has had the police stop by to ask if it is a sanctioned event because there are so many people running the sidewalks! Nope, just a bunch of like-minded people enjoying the evening together!

Wednesday-miles  My run today just didn’t happen. It started out cold, cold and I decided early that I would just go over my lunch hour… Well, then I realized that I forgot by workout bag at home… Then I worked late and we hit the grocery store after that. Oh well…

Thursday-miles 10 miles
Well, since yesterday didn’t go as planned, I decided last night that I was going to head to the gym early to knock out some miles! Since winter is basically here (morning temps below freezing), I haven’t been as motivated to get outside. The gym was warm and I could just set the treadmill to my pace and run until I was done! I decided to make up for yesterday and get in all 4 + 6 miles this morning. With the help of some YouTube GingerRunner and podcast RunSelfieRepeat, I was able to get it all done!

Friday-2 miles I didn’t end up running today…no biggie.

Saturday-14 miles
Up early and out the door! I was ready to hit the road and even made it to the group run area a little early – so I set out early! I was surprised that the group didn’t catch up to me…but I did start out early enough that I can’t be too surprised. I planned on catching up on the 2 miles I missed on Friday, but it started raining a little more and our second loop started a little late…so I hitched a ride home : )

Sunday- miles While I wanted to get up early and run, I decided to stay in and be with my family. This isn’t always going to be possible with my training plan coming up, so I am soaking it in when I can!

Weekly Miles : 27 miles
1966 / 2,017 miles in 2017

Next Week’s Projected Workouts

  1. It’s a lot harder to motivate now that winter temps are here (I wish they’d go away, frankly). Luckily I’m not training for anything. I actually don’t anticipate training for anything for quite a few months. It feels pretty good — I spend 18 months doing some pretty hard training (for me, anyway).
