This week, I am mixing things up! Product review AND workout recap?! Yes please!
Brilliant® Reflective
Reflective materials have been in existence since the 30s – nearly 80-90 years! What started as simple as silver reflective highlights on sneakers and backpacks has evolved into high-end running/cycling gear and professional safety gear.
While most of my running gear has small hits of reflective elements (i.e. logos, piping, etc.), I would hardly call them visible. It can be hard to find gear/clothing with ample reflective elements without breaking the bank or layering on safety vests to feel safe running in the low-light times of the day – which is when I run the most.
Brilliant® Reflective Safety Strips are an easy addition to any/all clothes and gear that need that extra POP of visibility!
Brilliant® Reflective is a reflective/safety strip technology that colorizes 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective material without reducing the reflective strength.

Currently, Brilliant® Reflective comes in a small (but mighty) variety of colors : black, red, blue, and purple. While there are four colors of safety strips, the possibilities are endless when it comes to customizing your gear!
As a runner, I have a plethora of different lights, vests, hydration packs, clothes, and various gear that may or may not have ample reflective elements.

With Brilliant® Reflective, I am able to take my ordinary gear and make it extraordinary! Plus, the less stuff I need to remember to grab before heading out the door, the better!
Even my gloves can be seen while I am out on the road!
This month is BibRave Safety Month and I get the chance to highlight Brilliant® Reflective and how it can keep us safe while out on the run. Look out for another post about how to apply the Iron-On and Stick-On strips on your clothes, gear, and more (like little man’s bike!!)!!
While you can take my word for it, reading more reviews is best! Here are more BibRave Pros that are testing the Brilliant® Reflective safety strips!

weekly workouts : week 10 (jan 29)
Monday- OFF
Tuesday- 4 miles
Even though I am feeling sleep deprived and stressed out (little boy with health concerns, in pain – no fun or sleep for momma), I pre-planned on going out with my running buddy for a morning 4. Without her touching base with me, I may have just waited until later in the day or phoned in another day… #runningfriendsarethebestfriends
Another fun thing about today – today my little man turns 4! Happy Birthday Oakley! Somehow 4 miles for little man’s 4th birthday just works 🙂
Wednesday- 10 miles
Some early miles in the books – running friends keep me moving for sure! Plus, Paisley sure enjoys tagging along for my cool down.
Thursday- 8 miles OFF
With a “sick” little man, I opted for morning sleep over running…day off, okay.
Friday- 2 miles 5 miles
While I wanted to “make up” for missing yesterday, I played it a little smarter. I settled with 5 morning miles (rather than 10) – big weekend to come! Plus, the gym is warmer than anything outside 🙂
Saturday- 22 milesChocolate Rush Half pacing 2:55 group + 9 post-race
A great morning pacing a new friend to a sub-2:55 half marathon and then I just vegged out the rest of the day…
I knew I needed to head out for more miles, but the timing just didn’t work out… I did wear my workout clothes the rest of the day in preparation of a run…but it just didn’t happen.
Sunday- 10 miles
Lots of excuses (see below)…but I was finally able to get to the gym and get in my run. Then I had the pleasure of packing up and driving 2 hours home 🙂 I was just happy that the highway was clean from the snow – because the city streets were not…not at all.
Weekly Miles : 42 miles
