A cold week of running – and a long insteadmill run at the gym. Another week down! I am only a couple weeks out from the Psycho Wyco Run Toto Run 50K – I have already started checking the constantly changing weather reports…and it is looking like a wet one (no good!). We shall see!!

Tuesday- 4 miles
Tuesday’s are the day that my running buddy and I have the same miles to run – so it is a bit of mutual gain/pain for the both of us to head outside…

Plus, I was lit up with some Brilliant Reflective safety strips on one of my favorite winter weather jackets! I wear and wash this jacket daily…and the strips are still hanging on!
Phew! I thought 4 miles in the cold yesterday was bad – I went out for 10 solo miles today…yep, about 5 minutes before meeting up with my running buddy (mutual gain/pain of running in the cold), she text me saying she was staying in today…whomp whomp.
I really had to talk myself into heading out the door… I was already layered up to head out into the cold but my brain was telling me to scrap it and head to the gym. I headed out into the 5°F (yes, colder than yesterday morning) chill…and it wasn’t all that bad! My arms were a little colder than usual and I was able to talk myself out of heading home early…because swapping todays miles with tomorrow was on my mind quite a bit!

While I planned a 10 mile route, my running pal needed 15. Since she headed out with me at 4:30 am, I felt a little more obligated to accompany her the last 5 miles – I had the time and I could take those miles off Sunday’s longer run!

Due to the impending (but didn’t happen) “winter weather event”, I made the plan to head to the gym. If I had planned to head outside, I would have been outside – but my mind was made up and I wanted a “warm run.” The mental aspect of running on the treadmill for hours is hard…but snacks, movies, a “treadmill interval workout”, shows, and different drinks helps pass the time…
20 miles on the ‘mill – not my idea of a fun long run – but a productive one! • I went in with a plan – 1.75m with 0-2% grade then 0.25m with 15% grade – 10 times • While not always my best effort, I got it done! With the help of @pjuractive #2skin keeping my arms and legs chafe-free, my @drinkdetach as a refreshing drink with my water and liquid fuel (hello, 20 miles needs a bit more than a 60cal bottle), and snacks!
