Weekly Workout

OZ Marathon w3 | training for 100M

This week was a little funny.. Since I took the past Sunday off, I decided to run on Monday – so then my brain was out of wack and mixed up my miles for the week. Oh well, this training cycle is off to a good start and is focused on the Garmin Marathon (where I will be pacing the 5:30 runners)! Let’s run!

weekly workouts : week 3 (mar 12)

Scheduled : OFF
Actual : 4 miles

I just needed to take advantage of the afternoon weather! And it begins the start of some confusing miles for the rest of the week…

Scheduled : 5 miles
Actual : 6 morning miles + 3 lunch miles + 1 walking mile

I started the day thinking that I needed 8 miles…nope, that is tomorrow. Oh well. Angie and I met up for 5 miles and I grabbed the pup for one more mile. I thought I needed to cover 2 more miles today – so I packed a lunch run bag! I ran 3 miles over lunch – and then little man and I walked another mile in the evening. So…..10 miles for the day!

Scheduled : 8 miles
Actual : 5 speed-work miles + 1 evening mile

I used the morning to rest a little longer. I packed up my lunch bag with the thought that I might be able to get in a speed workout. My work day was a little dicey and I wasn’t able to get out and run until nearly 3pm – the heat of this 65+ degree day! The wind and heat got to me in the final intervals, but I was happy with the effort I was able to put in early. Once home for the day, little man wanted to go for a walk – so we set out!

Scheduled : 5 miles
Actual : 6 miles

Now…I am back on track with my scheduled workout for the week. It only took how many days?! Oh well. A nice, cool/warm morning run to start the day!

I am halfway thinking about making my long run, or MOST of my long run tomorrow rather than Saturday…the weather is going to be a touch warm in the morning tomorrow…and cold on Saturday… Let’s see what happens!

Scheduled : 2 miles
Actual : 4 easy miles (RAN an errand over lunch break)

Nope…long run didn’t happen. I woke up SUPER FREAKING EARLY and it was pouring down rain and hail and lightening. I didn’t see that in the forecast…but I also didn’t look very deeply into it. Better luck with that tomorrow!

As for today, I slept in (trying to give my sleep machine a reason to like me…) and packed a lunch run bag. It is going to be HOT again today, so hopefully I will get out before noon for my jaunt.

Scheduled : 20 miles
Actual : 20 miles

A super early start meant that I could get in all of my miles before the hubs leaves for work – this is how most Saturday’s work. For today’s 20 miler, this meant that my alarm went off at 2:30 am to get out of the house around 3 am. I am not a fast runner…so making sure that I leave with ample time to get in all the miles is important. I planned on running 1/2 the miles before the 5:30 am group run…which started 3ish miles from my house.

Well, I got out of the house just a little later than I wanted to, closer to 3:15 am or so. Because of this, I cut my solo miles back just a little so I wouldn’t be late for the group run. Once at the meet-up location, we set out on the pre-planned route. One of the runners stayed back with me since my usual group run pal didn’t come this morning. I tried to stay conservative with my pace, and he didn’t push me to speed up. While we did run just a hair faster than my HR goal, I was happy with the “slow, long run effort”… Once the 6 mile loop was complete, I headed the 3 miles home!

Once home, I needed 0.6 miles to finish with 20 – so I grabbed the pup and we made our trip around the block to finish my miles and get some of her morning energy expended. A good start to the weekend and I was home before the time I thought I would be! Always a win in my book!

Scheduled : 5 miles
Actual : 5 miles

With a busy Saturday on my legs, the family and I lazied around most of the day. No one had any “plans” but I figured the hubs would go out and watch one of the games somewhere…at some point. After some meals and naps, it was time to head out for my miles. Little man tagged along for the first 4 and we dropped by home to grab the pup for the last mile. A fun outing!

Weekly Miles : 55 miles
Training Miles : 131 miles
Annual Miles : 478 miles (goal = 2,018 in 2018)

  1. I admire your dedication to start your long runs so early in the day to make sure that you finish in time. I am also a slower runner and always have to make sure I allow myself enough time to complete my long runs!

  2. Wow, that is an early start time for your Saturday long run! I always get really confused when I change up my weekly workout schedule. Great job getting in all your runs this week!

  3. Nice work and way to get it all in! I don’t think I could get up at 2:30 to run, though. Altho last Sunday in Florida, I did wake up at 4:30 (3:30 my time) for that half. I’m paying for it now!

  4. Holy smokes! A 2:30 alarm? ( I ditched my running group this week because it required a 5:00 alarm. LOL.) I do admit to waking up that early to get to an out of town race, though. Very impressive mileage this week! Thanks for linking!
