It’s Tuesday‘s On The Run day… Erika, Marcia, and Patty are discussing our best and worst race photos…so let’s dive in!
Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with race photos. I love them because they can be so telling of the enjoyment of the day…and then I also hate them because they can be so telling of the hardships of the day… Funny how that happens!
There is nothing like the joy of a spot on jump shot!

Or the lack of good finish line photo…
Sometimes your form and body can be spot on and look great!

Other times, I feel less than excited to see my thunder thighs and the extra skin moving around in most of the pictures taken that day.

For a good portion of my trail races, the amazing crew of Mile90 has taken amazing pictures of me enjoying the trails!

…and other times where they are hiding in the bushes and they don’t exactly catch me looking fresh…

Either way, race photos can tell a story. Whether it is a story of joy…or defeat, similar to race times, the race photos last forever. Ha!

What are your favorite race photos?
Do you try the jumping shot?

I only ever end up with a couple photos at best, at my 10k in March there were none. Sometimes I feel like races forget about me as a slow runner…. I love the shots where you can tell how determined I am!

Oh yes! The quality and amount of shots surely reflect the photographers. Smaller races are great and I have always found the best shots on trail runs 😋

Your jump shots are great! I never think to do them…odds are great the photographer would catch me as I’m landing (awkwardly).

I totally have awkward landing shots somewhere 😂 I am always more worried they will get a picture of me landing wrong and breaking my ankle 😳

I’ve never tried a jumping pose during a race, I’m sure I’d screw it all up! I raced last weekend and darn it if my finish line photos aren’t awful…I look so miserable!

Oh no! Were you miserable? I find that I don’t have that “joyful frolicking” face in ANY photos…mostly a permanent RBF focus 😂

My favorite picture is the one from the Garmin Marathon this year. I’ve shown that picture to about 50 people at work so far. I think everyone is starting to get sick of me bragging about your running!

Haha! They’ll get over it once you start bragging about your biking 😉😘

All your race photos are amazing – LOVE the jump shots. I seriously end up looking like someone is torturing me in most of mine or when I try to smile, I cheese way too hard lol.

You’ve got some great pics! I often think to do the jumping thing but then I decide (or my body decides) against it. Haha!
