virtual run | Scooby-Doo Doo Good 5K

This week FLEW by! I planned on checking out a “training plan” to help me stay focused for the rest of the year (or at least through my pacing duties in November), but I just didn’t...

Instead, my goal for the week was to survive with my head on straight and make it to Sunday’s planned virtual 5K with the pup!

Virtual races are THE BEST because you can run them whenever you want within the parameters of the event! I planned our Scooby-Doo Doo Good Virtual 5K on September 30th – the last day of the virtual 5K month. I did this so we would have the MOST amount of training time…or the most amount of procrastination. While yesterday would have been a far better day weather wise, I stuck to my Sunday plans.

Miss Paisley and I didn’t set any alarms (no driving to a 7am race start to contend with). Little man woke us up a little before 8am so it was time to get up and out before the day got away from us.

When we walked out the door, it wasn’t raining…but the sky was spitting a little, this was not stopping us today!

I knew that if I let her have her way, we would be clocking a 6-7 minute first mile and then I would be carrying her home…. Rather, I held her back a little (not to her liking) so we would be able to run the whole race! With the exception of a Little Apple Bike text (texting the community bike share line to pick up a couple bikes on the side of the street), 2 potty breaks, and a poop break, we ran some quick miles! At least quicker than my ultramarathon legs have needed to run in a LONG time.

I think Miss Paisley had a blast on our run! Our first 5K together in a while…and not likely our last! With the cooler weather setting in, I foresee many miles with my girl this fall.

Next month is the second run of the Scooby-Doo Virtual Run Series – the Scoobtober 5K/10K. I am hoping that I can get in some more miles with Miss Paisley so we can complete the 10K in one run.

The weather is getting cooler and that means the evening temps are AMAZING! We went on a walk with the pup and what would have been a mile turned into two miles 👍

Wednesday

Actual : 4 miles (1 pup mile)

I was sure glad to make a point to get up early and get in some miles with my running buddy – I ran 3 miles with Angie and then picked up Miss Paisley for a mile of her own. I can’t wait to get Miss P’s stamina up while the weather is so nice.

While I would have loved to get going and run this morning, I needed the sleep. My legs are still lagging a bit since my hundred miler… So I packed up my lunch run bag and headed to work.

With the amazing temps the last few days, I was not happy with how warm it got today…and my run didn’t feel that great. I can “blame” many things – a late lunch + warm day (hotter than what I am used to at this point) + clothes in my bag for warmer temps…sheesh.

It’s all me… It’s okay – bad runs happen, better luck next time!

I was so glad that Paisley was able to hold her own today! Any mileage feels like a journey for me right now and 3 miles with my little gal felt great! Bring on more fall temps!
