My running has not fared well in the past couple weeks… Life is getting a little lot busier and running is taking the back-burner big time! I have somehow kept my sanity through it all…so that is a plus.

There isn’t anyone that teaches you how to care for your aging (and possibly ailing) parents when you were little, you just roll with the punches – so we are just winging it! If you are friends with me on Facebook, you may already know this story :
#fuckcancer
My dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma at the end of May 2018. Looking back, a protein marker in his first bone marrow biopsy was nearly 9K when it should be less than 20 – this was how the doctors knew that he had this type of cancer. After his 4th round of chemo treatments (3 each round lasting 3 weeks – he is currently in his 6th), this protein marker was down to 488. Amazing progress!
At one of his Friday morning infusion appointments a couple weeks ago, the words “bone marrow transplant” were tossed around without much conversation which left us confused and wanting to know more. As of last Friday, we got a little more information. Dad is no longer on the daily chemo meds and is currently in the testing phase to see if he is a good candidate for a stem cell transplant. This is a long and drawn out process – which has added many miles to my car and grey hairs to my head.
Please keep dad in your prayers! 🙏 He can feel them so strongly!
Please also pray for mom so she can find a steady state of mind through this trying and confusing time. She is currently under observation at St. John’s due to a bout of severe depression. 🙏 The rest of the family can always use your prayers for strength and calm nerves through this stressful time.
Due to a busy first part of the week (including quite a bit of driving time, several doctors appointments, and working), I haven’t been able to get out and run. I am really itching to get out…so hopefully tomorrow is the day!
