As a runner, I enjoy running.

Clearly.

But now that I have a family, finding ways to occupy the rest of the masses while I am enjoying my run makes traveling for races a bit more interesting.

We are blessed to have family that lives a couple hours away so we can drop off the kids for a couple days and go on an adventure…but that doesn’t happen often. If we were able to travel to CA for a kid-free weekend getaway, I know that we would be hitting up these sights :

Napa Valley Marathon

Finding a running event during our weekend stay would be an exciting reason to go on a vacation — I mean racecation! I have heard GREAT things about the Napa Valley Marathon and would like to add it to my ongoing list of races to run. I just need to get registered before the event sells out again!

With various rental packages, you can enjoy the views of Napa Valley by bike and enjoy a delicious wine and lunch experience at Clif Family Winery’s Bruschetteria Food Truck post ride.

As the spouse of an avid cyclist, this would be the perfect way to stretch our legs without blowing them up pre-race or a relaxing way to flush them out after the race on Sunday. The possibilities are really endless on a kids-free weekend.
