Well, like last weekend, I pushed my long run to Sunday – so last week’s numbers aren’t as high as I was thinking…which is probably a good thing! Not all weeks need to be 40-50+ miles to feel like a successful week – sometimes just overcoming the “everyday” is enough to keep you going!
This week started slow, but I was able to get in more cross training days! My first marathon is next weekend! EEEKKKK!
Also, have you checked out The Incredible Virtual Run? It is going to be a good one! I am planning on running the 1/2 marathon distance as part of my marathon next weekend. Happy Running!
Workout Recap
Marathon Training – Week 15
Sunday- 10 mile run – last “long run” before marathon day!
It took me a bit of time to get out the door today, but I DID IT! One of those lazy mornings turned into a heat-of-the-day run. At least the 20+ MPH wind gusts kept me dry… Oh!…and my Garmin died around mile 7…which then killed my motivation to get 12 miles today. I settled for roughly 10 miles. Settled is a harsh word, I worked for those 10 miles without the support of my trusty Garmin… Last long run before my first marathon experience!
Monday- 5 mile easy lunch run + 0.25 mile walk back to work
While I did get up relatively early this morning, I just didn’t care to get out for a beautiful, cool morning run. Instead, I planned on a warmer lunch run – I wish I would have remembered my hat (a new running staple for me)…
Tuesday- 4 mile easy run + 0.15 walk back to work
I didn’t start my day planning on running, it is actually a cross training day! But like a lot of days, I just didn’t get around in enough time this morning to get my workout in. So I hit the streets for my lunch break – and boy it was windy!
Wednesday- 2.1 mile easy, late afternoon, lunch run
I was able to get away from work long enough to go for a quick 2 mile run. And boy was it windy…it has been a wind tunnel through KS lately!
2.1 mile stroller walk
Since the weather was so nice, the little guy wanted to be outside, and I still has a couple K steps left for the day, we went for a walk!
Thursday- rest day 3.5 mile run
Well, today’s run was…………interesting. I got about 1/2 mile in to my run before I was stopped
by an older gentleman asking how to get to the “opera house”. I wasn’t sure that we had an “opera house” in town…but then I thought about the Wareham. While we were not far from that location (about 1/2-2/3 of a mile away), there were a lot of stops and turns and it didn’t seem like he was picking up on my brief directions… So, I did the stupid not thinking bad irresponsible unsafe controversial decision to ask to get into his car to show him wear to go. While in hindsight, there are may other things that I could have done to help him out WITHOUT getting in the car, but I didn’t feel uncomfortable with my decision – after all, it was along my route that I was taking anyway – and my mace was locked and loaded quite obvious in my hand… Well, all is well that ends well. I do not plan on being QUITE so helpful in the future…but I will take those situations case by case…
Then on the way back, I noticed that the local mall cut down all of their trees…WAIT?! WHAT?! So sad…
Friday- 4.5 mile interval run
While I WANTED to get up early every day this week to run, I just didn’t… I am a little glad that I waited until my lunch today to run because it was not 30 degrees! I would much rather run in 60+ degree weather…especially with the crazy amount of wind we have had this week!
Saturday-6 mile early morning run with the Manhattan Runners Club : )

I don’t like running in the wind! How exciting your first marathon is this weekend! You’ll only get one first marathon so make sure — above everything else — you just enjoy the experience. Then, you can start planning the second one. LOL. Good luck Lindsey. I can’t wait to hear all about it. Thanks for linking with us.
