August Runfessions

Well, it is about that time again – Runfessions!! How is it already the END OF AUGUST?! This summer year is flying by…super fast! Like every month ends – let’s link up with Marcia and check out the other Runfessions for this month!!


I runfess…

Image result for 5 am running memeI have not been really USING my training plan as of late a while now… I am having a better time just running to run and helping my running buddies maintain/improve their performance. With all of us being in different “running spaces” (a couple training for a 50K trail run, another improving on their half marathon time for this falls racing season, anther training for their first 10K), it is just easier to float around with my summer session weeks.

My only concern is keeping up my fitness for pacing half marathons this fall and my miles to try and reach 2,016 miles by the end of the year.

Don’t get me wrong, I miss some of my interval and hill workouts, but that is not my main focus at this time…

I will set my alarm WAY earlier than my morning run meet up so I can get a couple miles solo…mostly with the intention of getting some intervals or hills in…

..but I runfess…

…I am bad about getting up early enough to ACTUALLY get a full interval workout in before my morning run meet up… So, I am actually just getting a solid warm-up before starting the planned buddy run.

Which is great! Don’t get me wrong! I just need to go through my remaining schedule and make up a few speed workouts… I have kept a few logged in my Garmin Forerunner 235 (AL) for safe keeping and a morning that actually get out of the house on time!!

Runners enjoy a varied diet, consisting of bananas, sports drinks, bagels, pizza, smoothies, beer, pasta, spareribs, chicken lo mein, muffins, scrambled eggs, sushi, ice cream, grilled shrimp skewers, black bean enchiladas, and those big turkey legs they sell at state fairs and Renaissance festivals. And that’s just on their long-run days.

I have the opportunity to travel (and have a couple things paid for) for a couple of races this fall…but I can’t go to them all, sadly (……very, very sadly).

Do you live in or around the Nevada area? Or would you be willing to travel to the Nevada area for a beautiful half marathon (or 5K) experience? How about the first weekend in December? Please, leave me a comment below for more info and I will see if this is a good fit for you!! (First come, first serve…probably)

  1. I am with you on not using my plan right now. In my case, because it’s probably too intense for my purposes/goals/abilities right now so I wing it…sort of…

  2. I seriously could at all day every day! Even though I have a few races this Fall… It’s nice to not have such a scheduled training plan.


  3. fun! I have not raced in Nevada but us Florida girls have a big race in December. I like following my plan so i can feel like I have some directions but fun runs are great! Happy Saturday!
