The most challenging aspect of running RIGHT NOW…is tapering. I will be in full “taper mode” for the next 6-8 weeks…
This week, Erika, Marcia, and Patty are discussing the most challenging aspect of running right now!…so let’s dive in!
taper
I am in the thick of taper blues… I have a busy schedule in the next 6 or so weeks.
- MO Cowbell Half Marathon – October 2nd (this weekend) – pacing 2:35
- KC Half Marathon – October 15th – pacing 2:55
- Rock & Roll St. Louis Half Marathon – October 16th
- Fit Foodie Run 10K – October 22nd
- Kansas Half Marathon – November 6th – pacing 2:45
- Longview Half Marathon – November 12th – pacing 2:55
While my body is used to having long runs on the weekend, I am trying to conserve a little more energy for my pacing weekends. I would rather have too much energy for my runners than feel sluggish…
This means that I shouldn’t be running as many miles each week…but that can be a struggle with the weather being AMAZING for running this week!
time
Somedays, there just isn’t enough time in the day…
These days, I would love to just run and run and run in the morning! But then there’s that whole “working” thing I need to get to, and on time! I would rather get a little sleep at night than get up in the pre-buttcrack of dawn to get a few extra miles…but then there is also that tapering thing (see above). Humph…
weather changing
With the weather constantly changing, it is a flip of the coin if it will be nice or not for a run.
Morning runs are now needing long sleeves and I have stepped outside a couple times and needed to head back inside for an extra shirt. Whoops…
In the afternoon, again, it is a toss up if it is going to be warm/hot or chilly…so my #runch bag is quite full with a couple options…
What is your most challenging aspect of running right now?
Is the weather changing for the cooler for you?
How do you make more time in your day to run?
