We spent Thanksgiving Thursday in KC with the hubs family for lunch and my sisters growing family (and my parents and brother) for dinner. Due to not having a babysitter Friday, I took the day off from work to watch little man…And since the hubs can’t ever take a day off, he headed back to Manhattan with Pai bright and early Friday morning…and I stayed behind for another day or so. I’ll hitch a ride home when the grandparents head back Saturday afternoon π
Friday
If I were still training for a fall/winter race or what have you, I would have had a little more pep in my step to get out for a run… But going to bed rather late and needed one to wake up the hubs to hit the road this morning, I just didn’t have the energy!
Rather, I got up when little man caught me playing on my phone π He jumped on the bed and make sure I knew he was up. “I’m up, mommy! I’m up!”
I started my day with a cup of joe and nutty roll π
Let the morning ball throwing commence!Β
Little man wanted oatmeal for breakfast…but it was too hot, and then he was “full”. Oh boy… Since Nana was eating a muffin, little man wanted one too. After he ate a full muffin, he still wanted more…but while it was cooking, he decided he was “full” again and didn’t want it anymore…
This kid loves Beannie Babies more than anyone I know ππ All lined up!
Movie watching with Great Nana Rosie
Blanket tug of war in the kitchen
…Low impact ball rolling to pass the time π
When Papa Ray started to doze off in a comfy chair, little man and I decided to head downstairs to play. I started expanding the marble tower…now it is a beast!!
Once it was time for little man to go down for a nap, I headed to Target for a few bottles of kombucha. My lack of control yesterday is making my tummy quite mad at me today…so a semi-liquid reboot is in order tomorrow!! Blended vegetable juice and kombucha…and lots of water πΒ
Yeah, I went to a store, but that is HARDLY Black Friday shopping… It is more like everyday Friday afternoon shopping. No shame. #OptOutsideΒ
On my way home, I stopped by a local coffee shop not far from the in-laws house π The chill atmosphere gets me every time! Unlike the hustle of chain coffee shops, I could just relax here for hours! Yeah, I planned on getting my coffee and leaving…but I stuck around to enjoy it π
I headed back to the house where it was all quiet still π I had briefly thought about going for a run…but I was on borrowed time and I didn’t want to leave a crazy little one with grandpa, so I waited π
…and waited…
Little man took over a 3 hour nap π (I never said he was a bad sleeper…)!
Around 5pm, my MIL decided that we needed to take the extra car to my FIL’s work…since he was dropped off earlier in the day. Rather than taking 2 cars, dropping off hte keys, and taking 1 car back – I decided to take the car and just get in my run for the day on my way back π While this plan was a good one, I started out a little late and conversations kept me from getting out to run quickly. It was dark within the first mile or so…good thing I took my reflective vest π
Once I got back, I quickly got dressed and ready for dinner. Some family was going to come by for dinner and I didn’t want to stink TOO badly…
I was pooped and headed to bed “early” – a nice run planned in the morning!
Saturday
Well…this whole weekend is thrown off by the holiday and extra day off!!
I texted with a running buddy the day before and made plans to go for a Sunday morning long run…
My brain was a day off…and while I ready “Sunday” in the message, my brain said “tomorrow is Sunday, a run tomorrow morning!”.
I got up bright and early…laid all my things out the night before, got dressed, relaxed for a little while, talked to my MIL when she got up, and then headed out the door. I purposefully set our meet-up place close to my in-laws house so I could just run over and then run back after…
I ended up setting out just a couple minutes later than I should have and arrived at 7:05 am for our 7 am meet up. I milled around the trail for a couple minutes and then decided to text her. “Did I miss you?”
Well…this is all my quick-reading-and-not-comprehending fault. She already had a run planned this morning (I had read about it on FB) and she gave me the deets. I ran home (literally…) and begged my MIL for a ride or a vehicle for a couple hours. She gladly gave me keys and I was on my way!
There was a trail run and “food drive” at the Overland Park Arboredum. There was a line on both sides of the road trying to get into the gate when I showed up…someone was late for work or something π I made it just in time to pay my $3 and wait around for the run to start!Β
I have been out at the Arboredum a few times in High School for pictures, but not ever on the back trails! This was exciting! Now that I know this is here, I am totally going to come back!
Once I got home, little man wanted nothing to do with me…and the game was on! SO I settled into the kitchen for a little while and sipped on my kombucha π
Before too long, I ended up downstairs…and was promptly made into a pillow…
…and a toy box!
There were naps taken…and snacks eaten…and lots of driving back to Manhattan. An easy night…and an early bedtime π
Sunday
Sunday couldn’t have been any lazier…even if it tried!
I didn’t roll out of bed until like 9 am…and I thought my time was wrong because little man was even still asleep! My MIL came by for a bit on her way back out of town…long enough that little man woke up and stuck around JUST a little longer π
I made breakfast for little man and I – then we just relaxed.
…all day.Β
The hubs eventually came down to join the party…and later had to go into work.
Lazy…lazy day!
