Well, this is the last week of 2016 – and my last FREE week before 2017 marathon training starts! I was quite proactive and made up my running schedule for the WHOLE year (barring anything coming up to deter from the schedule)… I am super excited to get the year started.
While I have not been running in the dark this week, you should still check out my reivew of Brilliant Reflective Safety Strips! A great product for added reflective flair for any piece of running gear!
I am planning another Run The Year – this year, 2,017 miles in 2017! I know my pitfalls from 2016 and plan to succeed this year (after coming up 200+ miles short in 2016)!
Weekly Workouts
Monday- My first running day since Friday…yep, I didn’t run at all over the weekend. I would set alarms, sleep through alarms, dilly-dally around the house, not get around before more people woke up to distract me from getting outside, —insert another excuse—, etc. Since the hubs had to work and the little man is with the grandparents for the week, I had today to run where ever I wanted – for however long I wanted! I planned a nice 20 mile jaunt all over town and the trails, but I only accomplished 15 miles. No biggie! It was great! I was even able to enjoy an Epsoak Sport Epsom salt bath after 🙂
Tuesday- First day back to work…and I didn’t want to get out of bed! No morning run, but the 52 degree afternoon was perfect for a run! I ended up going to Northview Park and running on the “bird trail”… I haven’t ever run this trail before and it cut over 0.5 mile off my planned route. So…my route changed and I doubled back some of my already run trails to make up the lost half-mile 🙂
Wednesday- Yes! Another perfect day for an afternoon run!!
Thursday- Another day on the trail is a great day! I wasn’t feeling all that energized today – a couple of late nights and less sleep that usual is not working well for me! I needed to get out and get away, for at least a little bit. The bird trail and Northeast Park loop was just what the doctor ordered 🙂
Friday- While I wanted to get in more miles, a headcold really started messing with my sleep and my head…I was in a fog all day. I didn’t feel well enough to head out 😦
Saturday- I planned a nice LONG run to end the year, but my fog head didn’t want to get out… I spent the morning cleaning up the house and relaxing.
Sunday- With a lazy morning, errands, nap time, and the Chiefs game, I wasn’t able to get out and get a mile until after the little man was in bed… New year, new goals! My Knuckle Lights sure lit the way! I am testing these running lights as a ambassador for BibRave. Check them out!
Weekly Miles : 35 miles
1753 / 2,016 miles in 2016
1 / 2,017 miles in 2017
Next Week’s Projected Workouts
New year. New plans. New training plan! While I started my new plan on Sunday, I am running an unplanned long run on Monday… A day off work with temps in the 50s means a perfect day for some extra miles!
Also, for 2017 – I am going to try a running streak! Not sure how far I will get, but it is worth a shot!
Check out some awesome #linkups this week!

Happy New Year! I’m trying to plan my training for a bunch of upcoming races to help keep me motivated, honest, and sane! Will you talk a little more about how you mapped out your year and how you keep track of it all?
Here’s to a happy, injury-free year full of PR’s!

Sorry about the headcold! Head fog is so annoying. I’m dealing with a headache today… I almost wish I had a run planned just to escape it…

It looks like a lovely week of running trails! Those are super cute capris you are wearing on Tuesday’s run. I’m sorry to hear your week (and year) ended with a head cold. I’ve had my share of stuffy ears lately. Hopefully by now, you are feeling much better! Good luck and you begin marathon training! Thanks for linking Lindsey! Happy New Year!
