I really enjoy linking up with Tuesdays On The Run – after all, my blog is MOSTLY running based, with a little real life sprinkled in… This week, Erika, Marcia, and Patty are discussing, “Giving your running month a letter grade”! I am going to try and post something similar month to month… This grade is going to be based on (1) my current marathon training plan, and my goals for 2017 – (2) my progress for 2017 miles in 2017 goal, (3) training for and completing my first 50 miler, (4) having fun while on the run and (5) keeping a run streak!
(1) Current Training Plan – B
While I am hitting my workouts with motivation and enthusiasm, I have been adding additional miles that aren’t necessary to the plan… Only time will tell if this is helping or hurting the cause.
I have a while to go in my marathon training plan, but my mind is wandering to my 50M training that will start right after this marathon cycle is over… While these extra miles are not necessary for the marathon, they will help build and keep my base for the 50M training!
I feel like I am mostly training for the race of….life! I would love to make and keep a regular routine of running…certain days with particular workouts, long runs on the weekend and mid-week, and all without a specific goal in mind! Races make it “easy” to plan workouts with a set deadline…but I would much rather just work on running. Running to run is always the best!
(2) 2017 miles in 2017 – A
I have been very successful in putting a dent in my 2017 miles goal for this year!
While I should be jumping for joy, I was on track for a good chunk of last year too…and then the summer brought no training plan for a short while and I just couldn’t catch back up!
I am trying to not allow this to happen this year! With the 50M planned and my training plans set for the YEAR, I will always have some running on the books 🙂 Even if it is a rest day and I only get one mile…
(3) Training for and completing my first 50m – n/a
While I am currently in a training plan, it is nothing more than maintaining my base for 50M training after the marathon in April. That is when the REAL work starts 🙂
(4) Have Fun! – B+
I have been giving the “have fun” goal a great effort…but the cold weather makes it a little more difficult sometimes! While I have been enjoying the treadmill at the gym, it isn’t as “fun” as being on the road! All about perspective I guess…
(5) Run streak! – A
I have been successful throughout this year on keeping my running streak! 31 days and counting… Hopefully a lot more days to keep up 🙂

Wow, congrats on your running streak! And a 50m is so impressive! Those extra miles will definitely help you. I’m shooting for 2017 miles this year too- more than I’ve ever done before!
