No matter the socks or shoes, I seem to always have sore spots, hot spots, and blisters on my feet. With lots of miles to run this summer, I need to be sure my feet and medicine cabinet are prepared for both!

I have used KT Tape in the past to tape my feet, but not for the prevention of blisters specifically. When I got the chance to try the new Blister Prevention strips and Blister Treatment patches from KT Tape, I was interested in how they would help my feet get though this summer heat.

Let’s dig in!

KT Tape

The concept behind using KT Tape is that when applied correctly, the tape lifts the skin allowing fluid to move more freely and help remove built up waste. Without this waste removal, the build up can cause muscle soreness and pain. KT Tape is lightweight and comfortable to wear almost anywhere on your body.

There are so many product lines that KT Tape makes – and the blister collection is a new product line! While I usually cut down my KT Tape to fit my needs, I am excited to try a smaller pre-cut length for blister prevention and the blister treatment patches.

KT Tape | Blister Prevention Tape

The KT Tape Blister Prevention Tape is designed to conform to the skin to prevent blisters, chafing and hot spot formation. The flexible material is super thin and can stay on for up to 2 days.

I have used regular KT Tape on my right foot to stabilize my foot and help with bunion soreness from my running endeavors. I have also used KT Tape to add a layer of cushion to this area of my foot to protect it from impact forces. To me, it helps!

The difference I noticed with the blister prevention tape is the pre-cut backing to make application easy and that the material isn’t as stretchy as the standard KT Tape products.

Without the stretch, I wasn’t sure how well the strips would work for me, but I was happy that the strips stayed in place for a super sweaty 13 miler – even lasting through the shower after the run! Depending on the placement of the strip, the application and time of adherence will vary.

KT Tape | Treatment Patch

The KT Tape Blister Treatment patch is designed to treat blisters, ease blister pain, and reduce scarring. These patches are intended to facilitate faster healing with a 100% waterproof seal.

While I thought that I might luck out and not “need” one of the KT Tape Blister Treatment patches, I didn’t win. During one of my 8 milers last week, I has that funny, squishy feeling on my foot and felt like I was getting a blister on my toe – and it was true!

I wasn’t exactly happy about the blister, but it gave me a chance to try out this new product!

The KT Tape Blister Treatment Patches are a big large for this particular placement, but worked well to cushion the area and prevent further rubbing. The directions say that the patch can last up to 7 days, but mine only lasted around 2 days. I think because of the area the patch was applied and my level of activity [and sweat], the moisture overcame the bond and it came off in my sock after the next run. While it only lasted 2 days, the blister was gone when the patch came off! A win in my book!

My Experience

Through the summer, the extra sweat and moisture in my shoes make it a prime environment for blisters and hot spots. With the help of KT Tape’s new blister products, I feel a little more confident that I can get through the summer blister free!
