Training plan week – flawless execution! With the exception of a few extra mile walks, my plan is on track!
I have also been #streakingwiththeCOOLkids this month. I have been able to get in at least a mile everyday this month! Win!
Weekly Workouts
Monday- OFF DAY
On my days off from running, little man and I are sure to get out for an evening walk! Today would have been the PERFECT day to get out for a morning and afternoon and evening run…but I am sticking to my plan the best that I can! I had some major FOMO today with the nice weather…
Tuesday- Another day, another run!
I hit snooze several times…and I finally got out around 6 am. The sun was coming up. A beautiful morning! The flat back road that I enjoy running hasn’t been paved yet, and I am not completely sure they WILL be paving it…
I found myself running on the flat gravel off the side of the road rather than the angled road. Felt way better on my feet and knees : )
Wednesday- A late start, but with 6 miles on the plan, I didn’t have a lot of time to waste!
Thursday- Today was a little more interesting…
While I would ALWAYS rather get all my miles in at once, I planned on getting in what I could before the incoming storms got too close for comfort… I set out thinking I would be able to get 4 miles outside, and then head over to the gym for my last 4 miles.
The weather held off and my running buddy text me a little after mile 3 ticked off asking if I was going to run today. Since I was already out and needed 4 more, I said, “Sure, as long as the lightening stays away.”
Once we met up, my Garmin beeped for the start of mile 4. We headed around the neighborhoods…chased a deer around the blocks…yeah, a deer! Not sure where it came from or where it was going, but it let us chase him or her for a while… I checked my phone a couple times to be sure the weather wasn’t coming…and we lucked out! No storms rolled in! Good thing she text me and kept me outside : )
Friday- OFF DAY
Little man and I went for our regular “off day” walk around the block 🙂
Saturday- Due to the length of my long-long run for the weekend, I decided to make my longer day on Sunday – cuz then the hubs could be home and I wouldn’t need to get out at 3am to get in my miles before he left for work.
Instead, I ran my 10 miler on Saturday!
The group run this week was meeting at one of my favorite places, the Konza Prairie! Yaass! While I made it out a little late (and missed the group picture), I enjoyed 1 medium loop and 1 big loop for my 10 miles!
Sunday- Since the races I have planned in the next couple months have a lot of vert, I wanted to get as much as I could on the local trail!
It is very hard for me to not feel COMPLETELY unprepared for my 50k in a few weeks – my 8 loops (for 20 miles) today accounted for 1675ft of elevation change… This is great for my 50m training! But my upcoming 50k training run has 2300ft elevation change in 10m… 😬😬 I’ll be as prepared as I can be – I can only hope it is enough to make the cutoffs!
Weekly Miles : 50 training miles + 5 extra walking miles
1156 / 2,016 miles in 2016
Next Week’s Projected Workouts
Monday- OFF (cross training or yoga)
Tuesday- 4 miles
Wednesday- 8 miles
Thursday- 6 miles
Friday- OFF (cross training or yoga)
Saturday– 10 miles
Sunday- 8 miles
Smell Well Review + Giveaway
If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I love using Smell Well packs in my running shoes and gym bag – they are one of my gym bag essentials : )
SmellWell packs are odor absorbing packs made from a non-toxic and all-natural proprietary blend of charcoal and minerals.
The packs are designed to absorb odor while they absorb the bad smells, and then leave a fresh scent. The ingredients also keep your gear fresh and prevents bacterial growth.
I mostly use SmellWell packs in my running shoes and gym bag (when I am going to the gym…) but you can also use them in diaper bags, boxing gloves, your car, and anywhere else that needs some freshening!
I still use the SmellWell packs I received from my first review – and that was over 3 months ago.
The package states that they can be used 24/7 for up to 3 months – so mine are close to the end of their freshening cycle…
Good thing I have a new pair!
Giveaway!!
I am very happy with these SmellWell packs and they have truly helped my gear smell great!! I enjoy them so much, I am going to give one lucky reader the chance to try them too!! Complete all three tasks and get 3x the chances to win!!

I definitely need them in my stinky shoes. My training is off because I injured a knee.

my training is going well! I’m in a taper currently from running 80+ mpw to about 60mpw and adding in more strength training to prepare for my September race! But these SmellWells would be perfect for both my gym/ work bag and my running shoes!

I love putting a pair in my gym bag – but I haven’t needed to be in the gym much lately. With the temps rising, that may change!

Nice! If this week is like your usual training weeks, I can’t see how you’ll be that unprepared for your upcoming 50K! I just did my first trail race of a 10K distance, on a course where others were doing 50 miles. I cheered for every one of them (as they passed me!) because I could not imagine doing that loop more than once!

Totally! I am a big “cheerer” on the trails 🙂 It happens mostly because I am slow, ha!

You seem to be really well prepared for your 50k! I think you will have a blast and kick ass 🙂

I sure hope so! Between different platforms, I believe the distance will be okay – the elevation is what worries me a little…

Great job on your week of training. Especially that 20 miler. I could never do that on that short of course.

Yeah, I didn’t think I could either…but I will have some more small course, high elevation runs to come…
