I am a sucker for subscription boxes! What else would give me the opportunity to try a variety of different items I may or may not usually try? I really just need to stay away from them because I have so many trinkets and single use snacks around the house, why would I need more… Most of the time, I get a great assortment of THINGS depending on the type of box it is!
I was given the opportunity to try a Fun Run Box (FRB) as a BibRave Pro. The Fun Run Box is a FUN monthly subscription BOX that is RUNning related – as the name would suggest. Whether you are a new runner, planning a comeback, or an expert, there are several Fun Box Boxes to choose from! I am always up for something new!
Fun Run Box
There are 4 different types of the Fun Run Box depending on your funds and running/swag/motivation wants/needs. All boxes come with the amazing online community with unlimited motivation and a fitness app to track the challenges!
- Fun Run Box Club (no box, just motivation!)
- FRB Mini (motivation + a box with snacks and gear!)
- FRB Monthly Themed Box (mini box + new motivation to run every month!)
- FRB Challenge Series (includes a training kit, monthly themes, and earn a finishers kit!)
The name of the September box is Oktoberfest 5 Mile Dashs. The snack theme is “Oktoberfest”, and the running challenge name is “5 Mile Dashs”.
September Box Theme – Oktoberfest
Each monthly themed box comes with a variety of running related items as well as a great community of accountability and motivation. The motivation and online community make this box more fun than just a sample box of goodies.
As far as the swag, the Oktoberfest 5 Mile Dachs themed box, the participants received :
- black FRB themed technical fabric S/S tee with the challenge logo on the front, back, and sleeve
- black/white Headsweats technical trucker hat with the challenge logo
- Empower travel muscle roller – I keep it in my purse for those random times that I need to roll out a sore muscle
- challenge themed magnet
- Regrained Sustainable Supergrain snack bar – I have tried these bars before; amazing!
- Jelly Belly jelly beans – interesting…
- an event bib
- a print-out schedule of workouts for the month – nice to have handy; stuck to the fridge with the theme magnet : )
- unlimited access to an online team of motivated subscribers; the Fun Run Box community
As far as the swag goes, it was all usable, edible and the shirt and hat are great additions to my running gear stash (even though my little one ran off with the hat…)!
The Oktoberfest theme was well represented in the choice of snacks in the box; centered around “beer” items – which is very understandable. The Regrained bar is made from spent grains from a brewery and the Jelly Beans were “draft” flavored in a beer bottle shaped package.
Theme on point!
Challenges and Community
The best part and larger purpose of the Fun Run Box subscription is the motivational community of subscribers and the individual/team challenges! The private Facebook group is a great place to go for daily motivation and accountability. The subscribers for the month are broken into teams and there are several challenges to complete throughout the month :
- take a picture in your hat;
- post a selfie in your monthly theme shirt;
- show us snacking on your bar; etc…
The September challenge name is the “5 Mile Dachs” – my team was Team Doxie. Each team would tag their Facebook/Twitter/Instagram images with their team name (#FRBTeamDoxie) and earn points for their team. At the end of the month, the winning team wins something – this month, each member of the winning team was gifted a $5 gift card! Team Doxie did a great job and we ended up winning the month with some last minute posts in the final days!
Another part of the Fun Run Box is the workout calendar and Challenge phone app! The “5 Mile Dach” challenge for September is centered around helping you work up to running your first 5-miler or running your fastest 5 miles.
Between increasing you mileage slowly with scheduled intervals, strides, easy, and long runs, participants were able to complete workouts at their own speed and then mark them as complete on the Challenge App. As you completed workouts in the phone application (roughly 3 running workouts a week), you gain points! I am not positive that anything came from the points, but I was able to complete all of my workouts (10 points a piece)!
Overall
Now that September is done and gone, I was glad that I had some additional motivation to get out and run several days a week! I was even able to complete all of the image challenges and workouts!
