What a week!
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago is 7 weeks away and the Hawk 100 is 13 weeks away! There are some additional races in the mix for the Hawk 100 training – but I will think about those as they come [big miles on the way!!]…
weekly workouts : week 8 (june 11)
Monday
Scheduled : OFF
Actual : OFF
While I had the gumption to run the missed miles from Sunday, I chose not to. Missed miles are missed miles…I can’t make them all up!
Tuesday
Scheduled : 6 miles
Actual : 6 miles
Since the hubs went fishing on the most amazing morning for a run, I got to succumb to the elements for an evening run with the Manhattan Running Company group run. The 90+ degree heat and blazing sun was tough, but the findings of some new-to-me hidden trails made my day – even my week!! Now I have a new area to explore…
Wednesday
Scheduled : 8 miles
Actual : 4 miles + 4 miles
With a late, late evening Tuesday and an early start to the day, I just wasn’t able to get out of bed on time to get my miles in…and then the overflowing laundry pile and a short couch nap got my attention for the morning before heading to work. I packed up a lunch run bag…and secretly hated myself for not getting out in the “cooler” morning temps. It is going to be a long day without that morning run…
After work, little man and I went out to cover the rest of my training miles for today. We ran 2 miles to the park, played for a little while, and then the 2 miles back home. Even though it was over 80 degrees, there was a cooling breeze and it felt pretty great! Maybe I am closer to being heat acclimated for this summer!

Thursday
Scheduled : 8 miles
Actual : 4.5 miles
Another late morning start…so an afternoon run it is!
Friday
Scheduled : 6 miles
Actual : 6 miles
Since little man and I are in KC again this weekend, I was able to get out and get in my miles before spending the day with my dad. Good thing because Friday’s are surely the most stressful day of my week these days…

Saturday
Scheduled : 18 miles
Actual : 13 miles
With family stuff going on all day, I wanted to get out EARLY – and while I was out the door before the sun came up, it wasn’t as early as I wanted… I was able to get in 13 of the 18 miles first thing in the day and planned on heading out later in the day for the last 5. Due to being exhausted from driving 4 hours and being in the hot sun, I opted to just switch my weekend miles…which works out just fine!
Sunday
Scheduled : 13 miles
Actual : 18 miles
I wanted some of my miles this weekend to be on the trails, but it just didn’t work out that way. I planned a route from my in-laws to my parents house and back – a big loop. the second half is a familiar course as it was the same route as the Garmin marathon from a while back 🙂 I missed setting ANY alarms last night…so I was running in the heat of the morning and the heat of the day. Good thing my dad always leaves me out a couple bottles of water and ice ♥
Weekly Miles : 56 miles
RnRChicago Miles : 121 miles
100m Training Miles : 457 miles
Annual Miles : 1106 miles (goal = 2,018 in 2018)

Ha! I don’t have my training specifically set for Chicago…and I even have 15/15 for Saturday/Sunday that weekend. Maybe a waterfront run?

Glad to hear you’re heat acclimated because we here in Chicago have been experiencing the most incredible heat and humidity this summer. It’s killing me.

It’s great you found some new trails and your Dad is the best for leaving hydration for you. I used to drink Gatorade Endurance exclusively. I didn’t know they had a watermelon flavor (I really love the bottle). I need to try it! I’ll be in Chicago for RnR but admit I’m not really training much. It’s just so hot here and I’m afraid it will be the same in Chicago. Thanks for linking!

I think my dad gets excited leaving me an aid station ❤️ The watermelon flavor is new and should be on their website soon! I am sure Chicago will be hot…I feel like I have heard it is hot every year 🤦♀️
