spring training | week 12

After last weekend’s half marathon, I have been easing back into the miles. The week started with some major heat and questionable running days, but a little cooler temps made for an easier time later in the week (plus those cool morning temps are AMAZING…).

I have some running plans for this spring and then in the fall…but we’ll see what all gets accomplished. I am not in complete control at this point – but here is what is on the calendar to this point :

  • Garmin Half Marathon (4/13/19) CHECK!
  • Bill Snyder Highway Half (5/25/19) – pace the 3:00 finishers
  • Hospital Hill (6/2/19) – run with me, any distance really, and save with the discount code BIBRAVE19 – good for 10% off!

  • Kansas City Marathon (10/20/19) – run with me, any distance really, and save with the discount code BIBRAVE2019KCM – good for 15% off!

While ALL of these plans are in my calendar, I have high hopes that this pregnancy will allow me to run to my heart (and legs) content! Let’s see how this week went!

weekly workouts : week 12

Monday
Scheduled : 40 minute run
Actual : 2 mile walk — I waited too long to take my lunch run…so it ended up being a lunch walk. With heat in the upper 70s, I don’t need to be trying to keep my HR down and “cool”…nearly impossible.

Be sure to check out my first post about Strava – more to come!

Tuesday
Scheduled : 30 minute easy run
Actual : 2.5 mile run/walk (mostly walk)

While I was able to get out a little earlier than yesterday, the heat was already out… What started as a good feeling jaunt turned into a slog. The high, hot sun didn’t help, so I run/walked the first half and then walked back to work. At least I was able to get a little dirt on my shoes…

Wednesday
Scheduled : 40 minute easy run
Actual : 1 mile morning run/walk + 4 mile afternoon run/walk

It was supposed to rain today…so I wanted to get out this morning for a run with the pup (she NEEDS the run more than I do). But then it looked like the rain is being pushed back or isn’t as likely…

So, I packed up my bag with the intention to get out and run before the heat of the day…close to 11am maybe? I left around 11:30 – so that was a win!

Such a good afternoon for a run!

Thursday
Scheduled : “rest” day
Actual : OFF — Taking a rest day ON a “rest” day?! Who’s this?! High five!

Friday
Scheduled : 30 minute easy run
Actual : 4 mile afternoon run/walk — The weather was nearly perfect, nearly coolish when the wind blew.

Saturday
Scheduled : 60 minute steady run
Actual : OFF — Due to the morning temps in the 30s, I decided to switch my weekend days…”rest” on Saturday and run Sunday morning… Little man and I went all over town before relaxing the second half of the day (donut shop, farmers market, park, Easter egg hunt, pancake feed, Easter egg hunt #2, lunch, Easter egg hunt #3, second lunch…and a nap).

Sunday
Scheduled : “rest” day
Actual : 3 morning miles — I was sure glad to get that text from Angie (a local running buddy) asking if I was up…I knew we both had intentions of running this morning, but the snooze was slowly winning the battle… Morning miles with the pup and pal before the day started!

Miles, miles, miles! Check out the weekly workout
