WHAT?! A new plan?! You heard right!!
I started a NEW training plan this past week…and while I am a couple weeks late into the 8-week Intermediate 10K plan, I feel like I have been able to maintain a decent base since finding out I was pregnant last winter.
I did consult Andrew Webb, the team manager, about a few interesting factors that would go into my training for the Hospital Hill 10K on June 1st, here is the “short” list :
- I am pregnant…duh 🙂
- I am on a shortened timeline for training due to my June 1st 10K being the only “race” during the Endure Strong testing timeline
- I am pacing a half marathon the weekend before the 10K
As you have know for a bit, I have some running plans for this spring and then in the fall…but we’ll see what all gets accomplished. I am not in complete control at this point – but here is what is on the calendar to this point :
Garmin Half Marathon (4/13/19)CHECK!- Bill Snyder Highway Half (5/25/19) –
pace the 3:00 finishers;I was given a little grace on my finishing time by the Smart Pacing coach, as I will act more as the course sweep than the 3:00 pacer - Hospital Hill (6/1/19) – run with me, any distance really, and save with the discount code BIBRAVE19 – good for 10% off!

- Kansas City Marathon (10/19/19) – run with me, any distance really, and save with the discount code BIBRAVE2019KCM – good for 15% off!

While ALL of these races are simply plans in my calendar, I have high hopes that this pregnancy will allow me to run to my heart (and legs) content!
Plus, with a new training plan and new-to-me running philosophy via the Endure Strong team, I look forward to seeing how this year shapes out! Let’s see how this week went!
spring training | new plan w1
MondayScheduled : 3 miles easy
Actual : 1 morning mile + 1 mile lunch walk
I hadn’t yet figured out which Endure Strong training plan I wanted to use yet…but I needed to act fast! My race is coming up soon and a plan would set me up better to give it a good effort!
TuesdayScheduled : 2×2 @ 10K pace w/5 min rest between
Actual : 1 mile walk
Well, I finally choose my plan…and I missed the first couple days of workouts. No biggie — but I don’t want to miss too many more workouts…
Today, I needed to take my car into the shop over my lunch hour, so I planned on getting in a run (hopefully the scheduled one!). But after dropping off my car and talking with the hubs for a little while, I didn’t think I would have the sufficient amount of time for my run. Well…after a 1 mile walk, I sat in the waiting room…and the usual 45 minute “car in the shop time” came and went — I spent nearly 2.5 hours waiting.
Wednesday
Scheduled : 2 miles easy
Actual : 1/2 of Tuesday’s workout (0.5m warm-up, 2 miles @ 10K pace, 5 min rest, cool down)
The pup and I headed out (albeit later than I wanted to) to make up part of yesterday’s missed workout. I was happy with my “10K pace” and hope to be able to keep up this training plan!

Thursday
Scheduled : 4 mile fartlek
Actual : 2.5 miles easy + 4 mile fartlek
I have come to the realization that the pup really needs a morning mile (or 3) most days…it keeps her level as much as it keeps me feeling on my game! We we headed out for a morning easy run.

I packed up my lunch run bag to get in my tougher workout during my lunch hour. It was cool and breezy – but wasn’t quite as cool as I warmed up. Thank goodness for layers!

Friday
Scheduled : 3 mile easy
Actual : 3 easy “conversational” miles
My running buddy and I knew we needed morning miles; so we made it happen!
Saturday
Scheduled : 10K run
Actual : OFF — Even though I talked to the hubs about putting my clothes in the dryer when he got home, he forgot and I woke up EARLY to a washing machine full of my running gear. If I weren’t pregnant, it would be not big deal — I surely have ENOUGH running clothes to suffice. But with specific bras and shorts, all of which in the washing machine, I didn’t have anything suitable to wear. I sent my running buddy out without me and I am sooo happy she was able to get in the miles!
Sunday
Scheduled : rest day
Actual : a couple miles I could fit in…
The hubs and I travelled to KC Saturday evening for his century ride on Sunday. I wasn’t sure what the day would bring for my running plans. I met up with the hubs at every SAG (support and gear) stop — which I had originally planned on just at the start and halfway point. This change meant that I didn’t have a whole lot of time between stops to get in miles. Life happens sometimes…or at least this weekend.
Miles, miles, miles! Check out the weekly workout
