As an active person, I am always looking for ways to help my legs move a little faster during my workouts and recover well between workouts. When I had the chance to try the Beachbody Performance line of supplements, I was excited!
First, I checked out the ingredients before opting in to the product review. The only product that might give me a little trouble is the Recharge – which has some lactose. While I am mildly lactose intolerant, I didn’t seem to have any issues with taking this supplement in the evening.
With no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives, the Beachbody Performance supplements are proven to improve energy, focus, and recovery!
For each drink, I add the recommended amount of water, add the recommended serving size of the supplement, add some ice, close and secure the lid, and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE!! The only exception is that I enjoy the Recover formula blended with ice in the evening – this makes it feel more like an evening dessert or snack before bed!
For today’s Friday Favorites or Friday Five (whatever your fancy), I am going to review the 5 products that I received as a part of the Beachbody Performance supplement review!
Friday Five
Energizer
Due to my early morning workouts, I will sometimes need an extra boost to wake me up and get my engine running. The first supplement in the Beachbody line is called Energize. There are several ingredients in this supplement that help boost energy, increase endurance, sharpen focus, and delay exercise-induced muscle fatigue. The ingredient that helps me the most in the morning is the low-dose caffeine from green tea and coffee bean extract. It helps give me the boost I need and gets me outside sooner with a little pep in my step!
When I first used the Lemon flavored Energize, the color was BRIGHT yellow! I was a little hesitant on what it was going to taste like due to the color – but it was good! I feel great on my runs when I take this supplement 10-30 minutes before I head out and it doesn’t leave me feeling jittery.
Hydrate
During the winter months, I don’t carry water all that often on my runs. Mostly because it will freeze shut…but also because I don’t get as parched feeling as I do in the other three seasons…
Now that spring/summer is here, I have started taking fluids on my run more often and Beachbody Hydrate has been my go-to for the past few weeks. I am not a big sports drink enthusiast, but I also understand that my body needs more than just water when I am sweating. With a balance of carbs and electrolytes, the Hydrate supplement gives my body the necessary vitamins my body needs (like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium) to get through those sweaty workouts!
Again, the bold YELLOW color is not something I am used to see in my beverages, but the Citrus flavor tastes great and is a refreshing change to the typical water I keep with me on the run!
Recover
After most to all (should be all) of my workouts, I refuel my body with a protein shake…or recovery formula beverage. I was excited that I received the Orange flavor of the Beachbody Recover formula. With 20 grams of high-quality protein, pomegranate extract, and BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids), Recover is shown to reduce exercise-induced muscle soreness and help with muscle recovery.
I am always a fan of orange flavored drinks – and Beachbody Performance didn’t disappoint! I have been pre-mixing my Orange Recover with water and ice before going for a run or to the gym, and by the time I get done, my drink is still ice cold and easy to drink! I have noticed that I am not as sore after my longer runs and I am able to produce great workouts in the days following – which is a big plus when I am putting in a lot of miles back to back.
Recharge
I don’t have an evening routine when it comes to helping my muscles recover from the beating that usually takes place in the morning. The Beachbody Recharge supplement is specifically formulated to help reduce exercise-induced muscle soreness and the dreaded DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). The tart cherry aid in muscle recovery and the BCAAs help promote muscle synthesis and helps rebuild muscles overnight.
I have enjoyed eating/drinking this vanilla formula as a blended drink – sometimes it ends up being quite thick and “ice cream” like consistency. This makes me feel like I am cheating and having a desert treat before bed!
Shaker Bottle!!
Everyone could use a great shaker bottle!! While I use ice for my “shaking” rather than the plastic top or metal ball thing, I enjoy the portability of the bottle. I also use my other Beachbody products to help keep my supplements contained on the go!
