While I missed my morning workout due to the heat/humidity and my kitchen sink full of dishes, I made sure to keep my food in check! The bonus?! The hubs watched little man so I could run after work 🙂 Yay!

[morning joe] black, straight up 🙂


[breakfast] an apple and protein smoothie + almond butter

I wasn’t ready to eat any breakfast yet…but I was starting to get a little out of sorts hungry… So I decided to slice up an apple and snack on it while I cleaned the kitchen. Before leaving for work, I made myself a protein smoothie with Bob’s Red Mill Chocolate and almond butter…yum!!

A banana or apple is my usual morning snack these days…both go well with almond butter 🙂


[lunch] leftover pork loin + 15 baby carrots (cut in half…takes longer to eat)

I decided to make up a pork loin the other day…so it will be my lunch (and sometimes also dinner) for a couple days. I love snacking on baby carrots…but it has been a while! I decided to half the carrots so that it gave me more to snack on… Not sure what it is about carrots, but my tummy was not happy with me the rest of the afternoon. I might hold off on carrots for a bit and then try again…not sure what else it would have been!


[afternoon snack] Lara Bar

I had packed a different afternoon snack…but I was craving something sweet. 

Unlike my morning snack, my afternoon snack is usually something more savory. I packed egg whites and 1/2 an avocado – but my desk snacks won that battle. A yummy, sweet Lara bar for the save!


[workout] After work, I was able to talk the hubs into watching little man so I could go to the gym for my interval run. Oh boy, it was a good one…not easy, but I got it done!

[dinner] leftover pork loin + 1/2 baked potato + 1/2 avocado 

When I got home from the gym, the hubs had already made potatoes for everyone – and they had already eaten. So I decided to eat another serving of pork loin, 1/2 of the potato, and then 1/2 of the avocado I took for my afternoon snack…not all was lost!

For the next three weeks, I am doing yet another Challenge Group to help me keep on track with my food and workouts. Today was a pretty good day overall!
