Workouts
Monday- I went for a nice, long morning run. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to go to work because little man was coughing off and on all night – but “no fever, bring him on over”. So I got to work a little late – and then a couple hours later, I was feeling weak, light headed, super cold, headache, etc. So I went over to the clinic (yep, my work has an awesome on-site free clinic for the employees!) and I have just a viral bug that is going around, bummer! So, I ended up taking the rest of the day off to rest, relax, and hope that I am feeling better by morning! – 6.4mi
Tuesday- …well, I am not feeling great, but am well enough to go into work. No morning workout though, I used the time for some extra Zzzzs. After a day’s worth of work, I was feeling quite a bit better! Well enough to take the little man out for a quick, relatively easy, stroller run…not sure a stroller run will ever be “easy” or “quick” for me, but yeah… – 3.6mi
Wednesday- I surely woke up early enough to get my 65+ minute pace run in, but my cleaning monster came out! I did the dishes, took out the trash, started a load of laundry (which after starting, I realized was really clean clothes that the hubs put on top of the dirty clothes by the washer…thanks!), and packed up my meals for the day. I was able to get in a 45 minute run with some strides – and over my lunch hour, I went for an easy run to make up for some time missed this morning (no exciting encounters with any coyotes this time around!) – 4.2mi + 5mi = 9.2mi
Thursday- No morning run – just cleaning the house! No lunch run; due to taking little man to the doctor to be sure his cough wasn’t turning into something worse (just a bug, like everyone else!). I was able to take little man for an evening run before it got too dark! – 2mi
Friday- Finally! I was able to get in an early morning run in the cold (should be getting used to the cold by now!) – 2.35mi
Saturday- I really enjoy my Saturday morning group runs with the Manhattan Running Club! While I am always at the back of the pack, I look forward to running with PEOPLE! I was running a little late (darn the snooze button!) but luckily, the meeting point was the middle school that is right behind my house! – 6.8mi
Sunday- I took it easy most of the day – went to a cousin’s birthday party at a bounce house place at the mall. I wish they made those for BIG kids (i.e. adults).
Weekly Training Miles: 32.5mi
Meals
I am certainly a creature of habit and consistency. This works in my favor when it comes to weekly meal prepping and planning. As long as I can prep a little on the weekend, I can throw my lunch together pretty fast in the morning!
Breakfasts
protein shake (different varieties)
Homemade baked oatmeal bars
Fruit, greek yogurt, granola
Lunch
Chicken breast, green beans, carrots & ranch
Turkey tenderloin, sweet potato, zucchini
Hard boiled eggs, cucumber, carrots, cottage cheese
Sandwich w/meat, cheese, lots of veggies
Snack
greek yogurt, PB, apple
cottage cheese, cucumber, hummus
Homemade baked oatmeal bars
Miscellaneous protein/snack bar
Dinner – Anything that I prepped over the weekend or make on a whim!
Weekend Happenings
Saturday- The little man and I stuck around home most of the day. With the little guy not feeling 100%, I didn’t want to get out too much! I prepped some veggies and sweet potatoes for the week in the crock pots – bonus points! Later, little man and I went to the store to get some staples for the week; eggs, milk, veggies, fruit, chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese, bagels, etc.
Once home, I prepped 2 turkey tenderloins and put them in the crock pot for dinner. This was the first night in a long time (or EVER) that little man, the hubs, and I were able to have a home cooked meal together! The hubs’ works long, late hours and little man is GENERALLY in bed long before he gets home – a late afternoon nap accounted for little man being up and around for a standard dinner time.
Sunday- The hubs went hunting EARLY, so I didn’t get out for a morning run – I am okay with a solid rest day (once in a while!)! The little man and I ate, played, cleaned, played, napped, ate, played, etc. While he was napping, I went out and cleaned up the garden beds. Due to the late season frost, our tomatoes were still producing – until the past couple FREEZING nights. So, time to clean it out! Two fo the beds are now clean and ready for the winter – the last bed (seen in the back of the images) is mostly the hubs hops. I am not quite sure how to deal with them since the have taken over the bed, and I am not about to mess them up!
The only event on the agenda was Gavin and Kaylee’s birthday party at the bounce house place at the mall! There were so many little screaming kids running around, oh my! OF course, our little man was right in the thick of it. Luckily, there was one bounce area that was for the smaller kids and I tried to keep him in this area as much as possible. For most of the 2 hours we were there, little man was smiling ear to ear, red faced, and laughing – music to my ears. Once we were to the cake/ice cream and present opening time, he was a little more upset that he couldn’t be out playing – but he was back out there soon enough! Great times had by all!
Upcoming Week
This week marks the first week of the #holidaysweat Challenge! This is a great challenge with daily goals, weekly workout goals, awesome prizes for being engaged, and the best bonus: keeping fit through the holidays! Go ahead and sign up now! Your body will thank you in the new year! I am planning to workout 300 minutes this week – with several 30-45 minute runs, a couple DVD cardio sessions, and the long run this weekend, this goal is achievable! @prAna @runtothefinish @fitapproach #pranastyle #holidaysweat
The #hoidaysweat Game Plan!
– Eat 7-9 freggies (FRuits and veGGIES) everyday
– Get at least 1 workout a day
– Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night
As well, the Pile On The Miles is in full swing – 32.5 mi this past week! With the goal of 100 for the month, I am well on my way! #POTM15
The #POTM Game Plan!
– Stick to my last week of training (2nd taper week) for the 1/2 marathon this weekend
This is the 2nd taper week before my last scheduled 1/2 marathon of the year – Longview Lake 1/2 marathon in MO. This should be a good one with lakeside views, relatively flat course with a couple out-and-back hills, and a chilly, morning run with good company!
I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap!
How was your weekend?
Any big races or big plans for this week?
How do you deal with the dreaded taper blues?
Hey, so glad to have you join us this week for Weekly Wrap! I’ve never seen that cleaning monster at my house, will you send him over? Lol Coyotes on your run??? Last night my daughter came in and said good thing our little house dogs are inside cause they are some hunting dogs out there. I went outside and nope it wasn’t hunting dogs, it was coyotes across the road in the big field. No threat as they were probably at least a couple of miles away but still gives me chills up my back! I would say you are well on your way to reaching your 100 mile goal for November too! Great job. Your Longview Lake half sounds like it would have amazing views, I do hope you’ll make it a habit to join us, would love to see how your race goes.

How exciting to be running a half marathon! I’m having to live vicariously through others right now! I’m half fanatic #5867. I see you have the logo up there. What moon level are you? It was so tempting to do the Holiday Sweat Challenge, but I figured I should be good with my foot and not push it. I’m amazed by the food prep. I don’t do that at all, unless you count grocery shopping! Thanks for linking with us. I hope you’ll make it a habit!

This will be my 4th of the year – pretty crazy that I started the year trying to run one 1/2 and this is #4 🙂 I am Neptune, or something…I believe it is the first planet, newb 🙂 I have really enjoyed the food prep lately! It’s not all that hard, as long as I have clean containers to put the food in 🙂
