final details for the Hawk100 | Thinking Out Loud
Heading into the final HOURS before my first 100 miler, I have so many thoughts… So I just figured I would go over my final must haves, race details, race plans, crew details, and all-over race prep.

There are so many things to remember when running the ultra [or ANY for that matter] distances – 50K and above. Things can get hard…real hard, but there are several ways to push through the pain to get to that finish line. Here are five things I need to remember when running a long race – let’s say, 100 miles. Since I am deep into the Hawk 100 training, I need to think about these often!
Now that the Hospital Hill ReRun weekend is in the rear-view, it is time to focus on the next task! The Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago is 7 weeks away and the Hawk 100 is 13 weeks away! There are some additional races in the mix for the Hawk 100 training – but I will think about those as they come [big miles on the way!!]…
What to the WHAT?! Hospital Hill Run race weekend just ended – but don’t leave yet! Check out how the last week of training went 😉Â
Since this race is just a part of my 100 mile training plan, there was no taper and no cycle down…and because of the weather, I didn’t plan on running for a PR.
Let’s go!
Last week of training before the @HospitalHillRun weekend of races! My mileage better reflects my 100 mile training and not a taper week…either way, another training week in the books! #bibchat
The early-week cool mornings felt great and the afternoon heat has been intense! See how this week went and some cool gear I am testing as a BibRave Pro! #bibchat
As an active individual, I run into little niggles and issues from time to time. With the growing mileage I plan to run this year, I now have confidence that using tools like the CTM Band will keep my muscles happy! Plus, it’s PEAK WEEK in my training for the Garmin Marathon in a few short weeks! Check it out!
This past week went relatively seamlessly… With the hubs in surgery on Tuesday and part of the weekend away from home, I was able to get in most of my runs without much issue!
This training cycle is filling the time between the 50KÂ 20MÂ (review hopefully up this week!) and the big 100M training cycle starting in late April – my next race is the Garmin Marathon (OZ Marathon) and I will be pacing the 5:30 finishers!
This week was a little funny.. Since I took the past Sunday off, I decided to run on Monday – so then my brain was out of wack and mixed up my miles for the week. Oh well, this training cycle is off to a good start and is focused on the Garmin Marathon (where I will be pacing the 5:30 runners)! Let’s run!
